Chapter 27: Announcing Rescue Mission, Divine Bicycle Skill!

Editor: Atlas Studios

Chen Yeliang had never met such an inflexible person in his life. The security captain was literally waiting for absentees to raise their hand! When there was plenty of time just now, he did not even have the presence of mind to go in and search!

Overcome by exasperation, Chen Yeliang felt his vision turning dark. The injured person that he had worked so hard to rescue just now was not the last one!

"Student Chen, what's wrong?" Officer Zhao saw Chen Yeliang's dismal expression and ran over.

"Officer Zhao." Chen Yeliang paused for a moment. "There might still be people trapped inside…"

Officer Zhao's heart skipped a beat. He glared at the security captain and said sternly, "Tell me, what exactly happened!"

Under Officer Zhao's withering glare, the coward succumbed and made his obeisance to the all-mighty law enforcement representative.

The security captain slowly took out a stack of crumpled A4 papers from his pocket.

"This is the list of people who are working overtime tonight. I couldn't find the team leader of Warehouse 8…"

There were a total of eight warehouse buildings within the compound of the chemical plant. The personnel in Warehouse 2, Warehouse 3, Warehouse 4 and Warehouse 8 were working overtime tonight.

Warehouse 8 was the furthest away. They might not have noticed the disturbance outside before the explosion.

"Didn't the people from Warehouse 8 hear the broadcast?" Chen Yeliang asked anxiously.

The security captain was so terrified that he was on the verge of tears. "The Warehouse 8's public address system seems to have… broken down recently. I heard it was fixed… but I'm not sure…"

His voice became softer and softer as he spoke, until at the end, only mosquitoes could hear him.

The answer was self-evident. The workers from Warehouse 8 were definitely still inside!

Hazmat Fire Chief Lu Ruijin, who was standing not far away, overheard their conversation. He gritted his teeth and closed his eyes. After taking two deep breaths, he opened them again. There was only determination in his eyes!

"All firefighters, listen up. We have confirmed that there are still people trapped inside the fire site!"

"Team One, contact the HQ immediately for reinforcements. The rest of you, move fast and follow me!"

His voice was sonorous and powerful. Not even the sound of explosions could drown it out, and his words landed in everyone's ears loud and clear.

Chen Yeliang reluctantly accepted this reality and sighed.

By some strange coincidence, the System's voice sounded in his ear at this moment.

[Greetings, Honorable Host. A New Mission has been activated: Save the workers trapped in the chemical plant!]

[Obtained auxiliary skill: Divine Bicycle Skill!]

[Mission Completion Reward: 1. Time of death is delayed by one week. 2. Riverside Luxury Mansion.]

After the system finished the announcement, Chen Yeliang was so infuriated by what he heard that he burst out laughing in frustration.

The mission's requirement was for me to rescue someone. With the Ferrari destroyed, the mode of transport provided in its place was actually a bicycle! Why didn't the system simply tell me to walk in!

Chen Yeliang looked up and stole a glance at the police car that Officer Zhao parked at the side. Although the police car was very clean and its interior was very tidy, it was obvious from the signs of wear and tear that it was an old employee.

It might not be able to withstand his Mount Akina Driving Skills, perhaps it was not even as sturdy as a bicycle.

Chen Yeliang resigned himself to his fate and looked at the fire in the distance. When he was taking on the system's instructions, the firefighter near him had already gotten a rough idea of the route from the security captain.

Officer Zhao could not help but worry about Chen Yeliang. He pulled him aside and said, "Student Chen, please cooperate with my colleagues and send the injured workers to the hospital first."

Chen Yeliang knew that Officer Zhao was trying to get him out of harm's way. After all, he had done so much previously that were terribly… out of line in this officer's eyes. It was no wonder that he had been on his guard against him.

He didn't rebut but changed the subject. "Officer Zhao, any way to contact the trapped personnel first?"

Officer Zhao raised his chin and signaled to Chen Yeliang with his eyes to look at the security captain. He was cowering in one corner, the name lists already crumpled into bits between his two hands. If there was a way to contact them, he would have done so long ago. There was no need to stand on the spot to shout out names.

Chen Yeliang held his forehead speechlessly and watched the firefighters running back and forth connecting their hoses. They were wearing heavy and bulky protective suits, preparing to go deep into the fire site to rescue the trapped personnel.

"Let's go. Leave this place to the firefighters. We… will only get in their way…" Officer Zhao lowered his head, unable to bear looking at the firefighters busy with their preparations.

Everyone present on site and those watching the live stream channel knew very well.

The situation in the chemical plant compound was unclear, and no one knew what other chemicals could explode or cause other chain reactions. The firefighters who entered the compound had a slim chance of surviving.

However, regardless of the risks, the depressing reality was someone had to go in there. From the place where Chen Yeliang was standing now, a highly abrasive pungent gaseous substance hung in the air, causing people to tear up.

Coupled with the fact that the fire-damaged facilities would be leaking massive amounts of contaminants directly into the Hanghe River, causing serious pollution. None of the residents on the river bank would be spared!

The burden of both saving the trapped personnel and helping the citizens along the river bank all rest on the shoulders of the firefighters!

Boom—

Yet another earth-shattering explosion! Everyone covered their heads and huddled down in fear.

The firefighters were no exception. However, when the blast subsided, their sense of mission made them straighten their backs and accelerate their preparation!

"Chen Yeliang, please take care of this for me for now and return it to me when I come out." A firefighter walked over and handed the cell phone to Chen Yeliang.

Chen Yeliang looked at the cell phone in surprise and then at the face of the young firefighter. He thought to himself, "How did he know my name?"

"Ahahaha, actually I was watching your live stream just a few minutes ago. Your parkour moves are really too cool!" The young firefighter became more and more excited as he spoke. "If not for the fact that time is tight, I would love to take a picture with you!"

At this point, the firefighter lowered his eyes, betraying a tinge of regret. However when he raised his head again, it was gone.

"What's your name?" Chen Yeliang suddenly asked.

"Hanghe Fire Department Hazmat Unit Team One, Wu Zhuo!" Wu Zhuo's words were forceful, but his eyes were already red.

He was very content that someone would ask for his name before he left. He thought that it would be sort of comforting if someone could remember him in the future.

With that, Wu Zhuo put on his self-contained breathing apparatus, covering his teary eyes. He turned around and followed the team, preparing to receive the final instructions before entering the fire site.

Suddenly, Chen Yeliang pulled Wu Zhuo's arm back and tossed the cell phone back to him.

"Wu Zhuo, it's a pleasure to meet you. You should stay here and continue watching the live stream." Chen Yeliang said with a smile. Then, he ran to the side of the facility compound where the bicycle parking zone was located.

Wu Zhuo did not understand what he meant and clumsily caught the phone with his hands that were wrapped in a thick hazmat protective layer.

He looked at Chen Yeliang's back view in bewilderment—What did he mean by asking him to stay here and watch the live stream? Was he mocking him for being too young to save lives?

Wu Zhuo felt that there was some disparity between the Chen Yeliang in real life and the one on live stream. The rosy illusion of his idol was thus shattered.

Disappointed, he placed the phone in Officer Zhao's hands. As all his teammates were about to enter the fire site, he could only pass the phone to someone else for safekeeping.

Officer Zhao also felt that Chen Yeliang had gone overboard. How could he ridicule others!

He followed Chen Yeliang's footsteps and walked to a row of yellow shared bikes. He said angrily, "Student Chen, how can you say such things?"

"What things?" Chen Yeliang asked as he busied himself unlocking one of the bicycles. "Whatever it is, let's talk about it when I get back."

"Come back…" Officer Zhao suddenly had a bad feeling. He probed," Where are you going…"

"I'm going into the fire site to rescue them!"
