Chapter 557: Mentor's Ambition

"287… 288… two hundred… and eight… damn it," a dark-haired girl grunted through gritted teeth before falling to the ground. At the last moment, she tilted to the side so she would land on her shoulder and not on her face.

Her hands burned furiously and her breath was short. She could barely stand as most of her body ached all over. As a result of the intense strain she'd put herself through, she closed her eyes and waited for the shivers to leave her body and for her muscles to relax.

The pain involuntarily brought tears to her eyes. This wasn't the first time she was going through this kind of exercise… but that didn't mean she was used to the pain.

The pain was one thing she was sure she'd never get used to.
