Chapter 3: A TRIP TO THE BUTCHER

A TRIP TO THE BUTCHER

"Why must you always get into a fight with the Baron's son, Orion?" Vickymia asked me but I was too injured to answer her.

Vickymia placed her hands over my wounds as slivers of white smoke appeared from her hands. The white smoke slowly seeped into my opened wounds to close them almost immediately. This was the templar magic of this world, or a part of it, which could conjure energy to aid in healing.

My wounds were soon closed, and Vickymia wrapped them with layers of bandage cloth.

"I'm sorry to bother you again, pretty miss", I told the prettiest healer in the village, now that I could speak comfortably again.

"Don't you know bandages cost money too even if I heal you for free", Vickymia told me.

"Don't worry we've got money this time, it was worth it", I told the healer.

"What are you going to tell your father this time, about your wounds?" Vickymia asked me.

"I fell down cutting some tree branches for wood", I told her.

"And he'll believe you, with your wounds?" Vickymia asked me.

"He would believe me if the injury isn't serious", I replied to her.

"But your injury is serious you should be bedridden for at least two weeks", Vickymia told me.

What Vickymia didn't know was that since I arrived in this village, I have a special ability that no matter what injury I may suffer, it would be healed in a short breath of time.

What usually took two weeks of healing would take me only a night's rest before I would be fully recovered. So, there was no need to tell my father about my injuries and fight with Michonn because when I wake up in the morning, it'll be like nothing ever happened.

"Don't worry about me pretty miss, by the way, where's Minna?" I asked the healer.

"She's not here and you come here for healing not to see my sister", Vickymia told me.

Minna is another one of my best friends in Slowan village but she doesn't go out much with us on our outings because her sister is rather strict with her.

"Actually, I came to see you two pretty sisters, the healing is just an excuse", I told the healer as she pulled hardly on my bandages before tying them.

"Ouch"

-----

"Orion, I heard from the hunter that you got into a fight with the Baron's son again and was seriously injured", Kechum asked me as he ran back to the house to see my injury.

Kechum was my adopted father who found me when I was about eight in the forest.

According to him I suddenly came out from a bright shining mirror that magically appeared before him and I lost all my memories about how I appeared before him. The only thing that I remembered was my name, Orion.

Since I had no family to pick me up, he took me home and eventually I became his adopted son. Kechum was the village carpenter, and he was extremely good at his job and so was I, his best apprentice.

"Oh no such thing, it was a misunderstanding and this Michonn likes to brag about how he beat people up, see I can kill a bull", I told Kechum before flexing my muscles for him.

Kechum checked my hands and my back, but he found no injuries to me. My wounds have miraculously healed after a night's rest as I predicted.

"Ok all's well then, maybe it's the baron's son bragging again. Go and send the new wheel cart to the butcher", Kechum told me and gave me a chore.

"Yes father", I replied to him.

My quick recovery from injuries and wounds was something of a secret that I would keep from most people because the Church of the All-seeing, the official religion of this kingdom of Nymera were going around villages and towns hunting and killing witches and wizards.

"Keep your heads low especially with the Church going around village these days", Kechum told me.

Kechum was afraid that the Church would take me for being a deviant due to the mysterious circumstances of my appearing in this village. Although he never told anyone about the magic portal that brought me here, it was better to be cautious when matters of the Church was concerned.

Also, since I was eight years old, the maturity of my mind far exceeded that of a normal child of that age, which was rather strange. I also have frequent visions and dreams that wasn't from this world or at least not in the experience of this village.

Possessing abnormal powers or characteristics would draw attention from the Church's powerful Inquisitors who were tasked with rooting out heretics and I don't want to catch their holy attention.

"Don't worry, I won't go out much for two weeks", I replied to him.

"That is my boy but send the cart to the butcher", he replied to me.

After being beaten by Michonn's goons, I should at the very least be bedridden for two weeks or longer. Even though I was fully recovered, I would lie low for the coming two weeks until I was due to have recovered under normal circumstances.

But my father Kechum had a chore for me, so I'll first deliver the wheel cart to the Butcher before I go into seclusion in the jungle for the next two weeks.

------

I delivered the wheel cart that my father built to the Butcher in the village town.

"Mr. Meegan, my father asked me to deliver this cart to you", I said to the Butcher, but he wasn't interested in my cart.

"This Great Boar is a rare one. How did you boys managed to capture it", the Butcher said to me about the Great Boar that we hunted in the forest of Slowan.

The hunters of our village graded the wild magical animals in the jungle according to their viciousness and danger. The Great Boar was a level 3 creature, and it would usually take a team of hunters to kill it.

"We found the Great Boar unconscious and applied hunter's sleeping cream on it before carrying it back", I replied to him.

"This Great Boar doesn't look like it's ill but what do I know? I'm just the Butcher", Mr. Meegan told me as his staff started cutting the Great Boar with large saws.

"Here you go give the payment to your father", the Butcher told me as he gave me fifteen silver coins which was the price of the wheel cart my father made for him.

My father spent a month building the wheel cart to get fifteen silvers while it took me only an afternoon of setting up a trap to catch a Great Boar that fetched ten silvers. Hunting was a much better job in making money than selling carpentry.

"Thank you, sir, I'll be on my way", I told the Butcher.

As I was walking back, suddenly my mind was attacked by a strange migraine.

"Arrgghhhh"

A great pain was felt on my forehead, and I soon fell to the ground, unconscious.
