Chapter 6: Chapter 6

*This Chapter Goes Out to Liliya1Reznya and AzagalPlay

James groaned as he woke up once again, the tower waking him and refusing to let him sleep in for once. He sighed as he turned around and put his feet off of the bed, only to wince at the freezing floor. A constant reminder that winter was coming. And yes, seasons did change in the strange world. Despite having no need for food, the cold was quite annoying and James didn't enjoy it.

He yawned as he walked through the cold halls, literally and figuratively. He eventually reached the desk in front of the door, where he had been waiting for the past 3 weeks for something to happen. Today though, he just wanted to relax, sleep, and- "Ughhhhh" he groaned as the doors rumbled open.

*Acting Grandmaster Jean POV*

Jean was in a weird situation right now. Recently, a knight on patrol had found a mysterious crack in the air. It limited a strange energy rapidly, and she was sure that other nations would have felt it by now. A camp had been set up around it, and a lot of manpower had been allocated to investigation and protecting it. Today, Lisa and Diluc would be joining her in the possibility that they could offer some more insight.

"This is incredible" Lisa stated as they stepped into the clearing, Diluc and Jean following behind her. "What do you make of it, Lisa" "Well Jean, it's emitting a strange energy. Similar to visions, and yet….. its different somehow. Yes, different." "What do you mean, different. " Diluc practitly snarled it out, his frustration with the situation evident. "Now, now Diluc, it's certainly not doing anything to bring about your ire" She chuckled and smiled softly, as if talking to a petulant child. However, that just made the redhead angrier and he questioned louder this time, "I don't care if it's "harmless" I want to know what it is" As he spoke sparks began to light in the air around Lisa and Diluc readied his greatsword.

"Calm down, both of you. NOW! We don't want to agitate the.. thing." Lisa and diluc both ended their buildup, turning to Jean instead. "Now, Lisa, what do you think it is?" Lisa hummed for a second, looking over at the crack before looking back and stating "I believe it is a portal" Diluc scoffed and mumbled "Preposterous" Jean sent him a hard look and he shut up. "Well then, I think we should enter it." That sentence shocked Diluc and Lisa. "Don;t get mad too quickly, besides, it's already done." They only had a second to widen their eyes in realization before Lisa grabbed both of them and jumped backwards into the portal. Laughing all the way.

The knights tumbled through the snow, landing in a pile as they groaned and sat up, alert for danger. "Well, it seems like I was right." Diluc and Jean both sent her a glare and she just laughed. "All right, let's go. We can admire the winter wonderland later" Jean looked like she agreed, however she questioned, "Where exactly do you suggest we go?" Diluc just pointed, bringing to their attention an incredible tower, stretching higher than anything they had seen before. "I guess that answers that question." Was all Jean said as they began to trek through the snow.

*MC POV*

I plastered on my smile as they walked in, the usual awed looks accompanying them, with a particularly odd look on Lisa's face. "Welcome travelers, to the library. I am the Tower Master." The three looked suspicious, before Jean called out "Where are we, tower master? We have been brought here by a portal in the air. What was the purpose?" She had a hard look on her face, but she seemed calm. HHe smiled even wider and answered, "We are in a…. Let's say private dimension. This is the Library and I will allow you to take one book, any you want, as this library holds all knowledge from across the multiverse."

Diluc stepped forward, fire lighting up his sword and stating "Why should we only take one? How do I know you are not tricking us? WHy should we not kill you?" He continued to walk forward until suddenly the man was gone, and he felt cold steel on his neck as a voice whispered, "You WILL be only taking one book. And you WILL be returning it on time. Lest I need to go to more…. Drastic measures." Diluc didn't look fearful, more shocked as he unlit his sword and stepped back towards Jean and Lisa.

James sheathed the knife and smiled once more, clapping his hands together. "Now, what book will you be taking, and please remember that there is a 2 week time limit for returning the book." Chuckles filled the room, "Don't worry, I always return a book on time." James smiled as Lisa smiled back, a mutual understanding forming between the two. "Now, what book would you like. Please, discuss among yourselves." It took them longer than he thought it would, as they huddled together and Diluc kept insisting on something. Finally, they came to a verdict.

Jean stepped forward, "We would like a book that details the current power of Snezhnaya, both military and political. It should include powers of the 12 harbingers as well." James closed his eyes, as if thinking before a book came whizzing down from high up, landing in his hand. "As it turns out, all of that has been written down. It has all been compiled here. And remember-" "Return it on time" Lisa finished the sentence with a smile. "Yes, bye bye now." Diluc only got out a 'what' before they were forced back into their world.
