Snapping his eyes open and gulping down a deep breath, Cynrik fought the momentary panic associated with dying in VR and had to catch his breath to calm his rapidly beating heart rate. Although he wasn't afraid of death, the amount of pain he experienced by self-destructing his Codex was intense, thus his initial panic upon waking up. 

'Fuck, ok, Tobs, add Codex destruction to the list of things I SHOULDN'T EVER DO!' Cynrik complained as he subconsciously flexed his right arm before raising it over his face to examine.
