Magic is as common as air, it's all around us and is always present, no matter what. But what is it, exactly? How are people, and monsters also, capable of manipulating it, forming it to their desire? Ever since this establishment was founded, almost like a law, the concept ruled, that magic is just a tool intelligent life forms can use for their own betterment. Just like their limbs, or a branch they pick up from under a tree. It is yet another way to alter our surroundings for our benefit. But is that all it can do? If I may be so bold to voice my meager opinion in such a bulwark of intellect and ingenuity... We couldn't be further from the truth!
- Opening words of the 'My thoughts on Magic' from High Wizard Razzathon -

The first week in the family house was spent at relative peace. The order of things was very quickly conveyed to Zora. It was obvious who had the upper hand in every argument, it was obvious who was the lazy, and who was the useless, and it was also obvious who was the one everyone had to appease if things get out of hand.
It was none other than Zora himself.
Jokes aside Zora found out fast, that his mother, Lilly was the 'heavy lifter' of the family. She was full of energy and ambition all the time. She worked like there is no tomorrow and like there is work for 10 people instead of 2, or maybe 3. She pulled her weight almost doubly, taking care of the kids, cleaning, cooking, feeding the animals, sometimes even helping her husband on the field. And she did all that with a smile on her face and with light, merry steps, all the time. For Zora she was so energetic it was almost nauseating. He lived for hundreds of years by then, it was impossible for him to even think about trying to do anything similar.
His father was way more... Lets say normal. He was a bit grumpy and gloomy all the time, like he knew very well that life sucked and he barely had the energy to complain about it. Obviously that did not stop him from working all day on the field. He was a man of the land like his father or grandfather. He knew nothing else and was proud to be a farmer. But very deep inside he somehow felt like there was something more he could've done in life, but he suppressed that thought since childhood.
The kids were too young to be of any help around the farm, maybe sometimes Tilly was left to feed Zora or was let out to feed the animals or check around the estate to see if everything is in order, as in the fence is in good shape or the scarecrows are standing straight enough. Even those jobs were given to her only because she was too much like her mother. That's a good thing for sure, but not at that time, when she was barely responsible enough to not kill herself in a heartbeat.
Drac on the other hand was very much like his father. He was also a sickly kid, something the parents were very worried about. When he grows up he will have to help work the fields, along with Zora. But now that seems to be out of reach for some reason. But the family never loses hope. It was kind of heart warming for Zora.
As a baby he had nothing else to do but eat, poop and sleep all day. Other than that he was allowed to look around from the safety of his mother's arms. That's not something Zora was willing to endure. As previously mentioned, he was quick on his feet... magical feet, and started working on moving magic inside his body. He tried all the practices he knew from before and found the best to use, also he managed to refine it a bit to acclimate better to the current magical environment.
Before, in other worlds his experiences showed that while magic is a force that someone is able to move inside their bodies, its extremely hard to even stir, while releasing it outside is next to impossible. Magicians or sorcerers there had to use different kind of techniques or items to focus their energies and give them shape.
On the contrary in this world the magical energies were incredibly easy to move, inside his body he kept stirring and stirring all the magical energy that flew in his veins like blood. Somehow he was able to keep track of all the currents inside him and follow the flow of energy all the way from his heart to the last cells in his toes. With that practice he was able to feel around his body like he was going through it with his fingers. By the end of the week he had a full 3D map of his own body in his brain. Not something he could recall as easily as 1x1, but he was extremely familiar with every nook and cranny of his insides.
And there was a huge discovery he made during this time. He wasn't exactly human. Well humanoid, and human looking and all that, but there was something different. There was a small sphere of void inside him. It was stationed in the middle of the spine, slightly lower than the heart, but that sphere somehow replace at least 3 vertebrae.
His spine works the same way as it would in a human, even the physics and physiology worked as if those vertebrae were still there, but they were not. Right now that space was absolutely void of anything, even air, but it seems like there is supposed to be something there, and Zora had no idea if its something that is missing out of him, or something that is supposed... grow there maybe?
