Chapter 8: Tea Party

Lace was doing my hair, gushing about how gorgeous I was.

Tentatively, I asked her a question, "Are the maids treating you kindly?" 

"Why wouldn't they?" She asked, her orange eyes glimmering back at me. 

I smiled back, "Because you're a newcomer." 

I didn't want to admit that I could be the reason behind the mistreatment, so, I decided to stay silent like a coward. Despite my beautiful appearance, there was not one aspect of myself that I liked. If I could take off the skin I was given, I wondered if I would be happier. Though now, I didn't have time to think such decrypt thoughts, I was going to be socializing with other noblewomen, Francesca and Adelaide had promised to wait for me. 

I would have rather that they left by themselves.
