Chapter 6: Joy

I liked the hellhound. No, I probably loved it. Even if I didn't know what that word meant.

I had yet to name him. Yet, bounding between me and the wall, tail wagging behind him with a bright red tongue, I couldn't help but smile. He liked to snuggle next to me whenever he slept and for once, I finally had something that loved me.

That feeling was so foreign. "When I leave," I whispered into his fur, "I'll take you with me." A giggle escaped my lips, "Either that or maybe we can stay here forever. . ." I trailed off.

I had yet to come up with a name for him. He perked up his ears as he licked my cheek. I giggled, falling to the ground and looking up at the ceiling.

"Felix?" I tried.

He huffed, lying on my chest. My hair spilled behind me as I stared at the ceiling.

"Caius?"

No response.
