Chapter 40: Jeannie - Memories

I hung up the phone and slid it back into my pocket. My husband had asked if he needed to come down now. I really didn’t know how to answer that. How can you decide ahead of time if someone is going to die within a specific timeframe? If I told him to come down today, Mom might linger for three more months. If I tell him to wait, she could die tonight. I knew this from personal experience. My husband’s grandmother survived five months after her life support was pulled. Feeding tube and IV had been removed and she lived longer than anyone else in medical records with no nutrients going in. I had no idea how long Mom would survive. They always say the meanest and most stubborn last the longest. We might be in for the long haul.
