**ADDIE'S POV**

The man that had been shackled, for that was the only word for it, just floundered as he looked from his wrists to Heron. He looked for lack of a better description, like a fish out of water. He was gasping and making weird faces that I was sure weren't intentional.

"Wh..wh..why did you do this to me?" There was a larger crowd around us now. People were curious about what was going on, but they weren't willing to get too close. They were likely afraid that Heron would clamp a similar set of cuffs onto them.

"Why? Well, you wanted proof that these magic tools worked, didn't you?" Heron's grin was nearly maniacal as he said that. "Come on now, sir, you can see that those cuffs are completely blocking your mana flow, can you not?"

"W..we..well, yes, they are. I can't use any magic at all. But why did you put them on me?"

"I want you to try to cast a spell for me. Any spell will do." Heron told the man, his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.
