Chapter 61: Susanna

I was awoken by the sounds of people moving around the rest of the house early the next morning. I knew that it was just the servants that were busy doing their jobs, but I wasn't used to the sound of that while I was trying to sleep. The sounds of doors closing, pans being set onto the stove, and much more, they all echoed throughout the house as if they were being amplified.

The sounds had actually startled me so bad that my heart was racing when I jolted awake and sat bolt upright in my bed. I had actually gasped and was about to cry out before I had remembered where I was and what was happening.
