Chapter 7: Banished from his parents' bedroom

Qie Xieling raised his head and right in front of him was his father's former employee who used to chat him up when he stayed at the company. The entirety of GameX was like his daycare centre and the employees his babysitters. Who wouldn't want to watch the bosses kid?

This man was Leong Jinn a genius programmer with the research department head by his dad. He was destined to be Wen Qinxi's predecessor but Leong Jinn pretended to befriend Qie Xieling. The end goal was simple. Manipulate Qie Xieling to override Jolie but he didn't realise that Qie Xieling was just as smart as him and couldn't be manipulated.

The last time he saw Leong Jinn he was smiling psychotically while being hauled to jail. Qie Xieling was a little terrified because he kept staring at him while smiling creepily.

Qie Ranzhe reacted immediately pulling his son away and clasping the man's collar. The people around them were startled and some timid ones screamed.

Wen Qinxi didn't even stop him. He grabbed his son and continued pushing the trolley like nothing happened. He didn't want Qie Xieling to be around that bastard any longer than he should.

"Is Pa going to be okay?" asked Qie Xieling a little worried for his father.

"He will be fine," replied Wen Qinxi but in truth he was a little worried. Leong Jinn was meant to be in prison serving out his sentence but here he was in a grocery store buying cake and lots of it which was very unusual.

Qie Ranzhe dragged the man outside and with a loud bang, he pressed him against the wall with his elbow on the man's neck.

Qie Ranzhe pressed harder as he spoke through gritted teeth. "How the fuck are you outside prison? No tricks... otherwise I will use other means to deal with you," he said and Leong Jinn couldn't help but laugh.

"You think no one else would appreciate my talent? I am worth so much that I found myself a new boss. The Lee family treat me like their pride and joy... and they have just as much power to free me," he said with the smile on his face getting bigger.

Qie Ranzhe snorted coldly as he let him go. "Yes, their pride and joy they sent to buy cake? How interesting," said Qie Ranzhe before turning around to leave. He didn't even give himself time to admire the smile sinking on Leong Jinn's face.

That's because he had other things to worry about. The Lee family had always been unscrupulous when it came to business and Qie Ranzhe was sure that by now they had replicated his work. His competitors were gaining momentum but what they didn't realise was that Qie Ranzhe was branching off to other big projects.

He had never been the type to put all his eggs in one basket. He raked his fingers through his hair pushing the stray strands back as he walked towards the store.

There were some people curiously looking through the windows but Qie Ranzhe could care less. From behind him, he could hear a man kicking a cart angrily but that had nothing to do with him.

Leong Jinn was very angry. That's because he got a call while working at Lee Towers to bring over ten cakes from this specific supermarket by the Lee family's little princess. It would be more accurate to call her a brat than a princess because at least a princess would be considered graceful and poised.

Lee Ya was the least graceful and the least poised. Even if it wasn't his job if she said jump then it was a matter of how high. He had no choice in the matter. Who would have thought his former mentor and his lousy brain dead husband would see him? How humiliating?

***

Qie Ranzhe stood in the master bedroom at the sea view villa watching his husband put on face cream his eyes almost burning holes into the man's back.

They were discussing Leong Jinn but his eyes were begging for a treat. Wen Qinxi could feel the thirst radiating from that direction and found it really hard to ignore.

His adam's apple rolled gulping down the words that almost subconsciously came out. He was about to invite him over but regained his sanity at the last moment. He couldn't just give away the prize that easily, right?

"Don't worry about him. He thinks that because he is in good books with the Lee family he has become more of a threat but he isn't. The Lee family will never be our competition," said Qie Ranzhe but his eyes were slowly travelling up Wen Qinxi's back imagining the small waist and porcelain skin hidden underneath that fabric. He couldn't wait for his hand to slip inside and explore.

Wen Qinxi who had big plans to screw with Leong Jinn smiled sinisterly and said, "I know... my biggest concern right now though is what you are looking at?"

Wen Qinxi turned his head back slightly and gazed at him from the corner of his eyes his gaze as sharp and alluring as a blade made of ice.

Qie Ranzhe who had been caught red-handed had no shame at all. His eyes darkened as he took a step closer. Lured in by that seductive expression on Wen Qinxi's face his prominent bulge appeared the message loud and clear.

Wen Qinxi unbuttoned his maroon pyjama shirt slowly and with his back towards his husband, the shirt slipped off his shoulders revealing his butterfly bone with two fading marks from last time.

"Do you like what you see?" he asked in a husky voice and Qie Ranzhe almost died on the spot from the stimulation.

He nodded his head frantically and was about to come closer when he heard him say, "Then go get the ice."

Shoot, he didn't have to tell him twice. The big man ran out of there like it was a life or death situation. If he is even a second late it would be game over.

On his way up he pushed his son's door open and tossed packets of bribes that he secretly smuggled in. "Don't come and disturb your dad, okay?" he said.

"But pa, you said you would read me a story today," replied Qie Xieling but his father's response was swift and concise.

"This is a time-sensitive matter and you will understand one day. I will make it up to you later," he replied right before he closed the door with a bang.

Qie Xieling, "..."

"So what?... Am I supposed to tuck myself in right now? Are you kidding," he complained but when he saw the two bags of shrimp chips and marshmallows he forgot all his troubles.

He could tell his father wanted something from his dad which was why he was banished from his parents' bedroom. Whatever it was it must be that good that his father would be in such a hurry?

Chapter 8: 'What the fudge?'

With his son bribed Qie Ranzhe was fully satiated. In fact, he was so satiated that Qie Xieling was the one that suffered the most the very next day.

When you have two parents active in your life one is the voice of reason when the other is being very unreasonable. But when his dad was being unreasonable today his father instead of backing him up was saying stuff like, "Lin Lin, listen to your dad."

Lin Lin, 'What the fudge?'

As expected, when his father was in a very very good mood he got to pay the price. Like for example, today he was just minding his own business playing with the  sea shells he gathered together with his parents when suddenly his dad said,

"Lin Lin, you need to write a card to apologise to Luo Muchen. You should write a heartfelt message."

Qie Xieling, "..."

He honestly thought that after getting yelled at, getting time out and his gaming pod being confiscated the matter was over. Now he was being asked to write an apology card or rather draw an apology card to Luo Muchen... seriously?

"Can't I just walk over to him and say I am sorry?" he asked seeming like he was about to break down in tears.

"No, that's not sincere enough," replied Wen Qinxi and Qie Xieling looked at his father for help.

His father was busy cutting kiwi slices and feeding them to his dad. With tender affection in his eyes as he gazed upon his husband he said, "Lin Lin listen to your dad."

Qie Xieling, "..."

"It should be a handmade card with a sincere and heartfelt apology. Go get your backpack and start drawing," said Wen Qinxi and Qie Xieling had no choice.

With his lips pouted he got down from the chair. In slow strides and a lowered head like he was ashamed he walked up the stairs hoping that his dad would change his mind but who was he kidding?

His dad was the rule of the law in this family. "For every second that you aren't back with your backpack I will add a day of not getting your gaming pod back," said Wen Qinxi the threat in his voice obvious.

After hearing that Qie Xieling ran up the stairs like he had oil on his feet. He came back down gasping for air like he had just run a marathon.

"You should make me a handmade card too so you can express your feelings for me," said Wen Qinxi and Qie Ranzhe couldn't agree more.

Qie Xieling almost rolled his eyes seeing this. His parents were a special kind of breed. Honestly, he swore that if he ever falls in love and that was a big if, he would make sure not to abuse others like these two.

While they were distracted he pulled out his pencil colours and began drawing with his tongue sticking out like a proper artist. He was so focused that he didn't notice his father was now sitting next to him drawing as well.

He only noticed when he found that the brown colour pencil was missing. He turned to look at him and even waited but his father was really hogging the brown pencil colour.

"Pa," he said and Qie Ranzhe hummed in response but he didn't stop using it.

"Brown one. Can I have it?" he said and Qie Ranzhe replied without even looking at him,

"Use another one. There is another brown one over there."

"That one is dark brown. I want light brown. The dark brown won't work well with the other colours... Pa," said Qie Xieling but his stubborn father wouldn't let him have it.

"My card is more important than yours so wait," said Qie Ranzhe and Wen Qinxi couldn't help but chuckle lightly watching these two fighting over a pencil colour. He didn't even bother to intervene and as expected it escalated.

They started making fun of each other's drawings and Qie Xieling was especially brutal. You would think him being a kid would mean his vocabulary was shallow but nope. He mocked the heart drawn by his father using words like poignant.

"What the heck does that mean?" asked Qie Ranzhe and Qie Xieling chuckled with his head lowered.

Qie Ranzhe looked at his husband and Wen Qinxi shrugged his shoulders. He was a genius in programming but not vocabulary. It just wasn't his thing.

"Lenex, what is the meaning of the word poignant?" he asked and the voice assistant device lit up before giving a detailed definition.

Qie Ranzhe's face grew dark as he faced this brat he intentionally gave birth to.

"My drawing is keenly distressing to your mind? Really?" he said and Qie Xieling being Qie Xieling nodded his head with a toothy smile.

"You want keenly distressed? Let me show you keenly distressed," he said and the sound of a chair scratching the ground and loud giggles ensued.

"Pa, I am going to pee hahahahaha I am going to pee myself," screamed Qie Xieling in between laughs because his father who had caught him was tickling him. After messing around for a while Qie Xieling continued with his card.

After working so hard for hours he finally presented it to his father. Wen Qinxi didn't expect it to be the best-looking card. He just wanted his son to be sincere and for his apology to come from his heart.

Looking at the bunny in front of the card dressed in a polka dot onesie with a sad expression Wen Qinxi was quite impressed. It seemed his son really put in real effort. It even had the words I am sorry in a chat bubble hovering above the bunny.

"Cute bunny," he said and Qie Xieling who was moving side to side enjoying the bite of the piece of fudge his father had given to him swallowed before saying,

"No no, it's a cat. See there are whiskers."

Wen Qinxi, "..."

What cat had ears that big? He could only continue praising this little artist but it seemed Qie Ranzhe was not on the same page as him. The man directly pointed out the ear issue.

"Those ears are too big to be a cat's," he said and Wen Qinxi's eyes widened. His expression was clearly reprimanding him but Qie Ranzhe didn't feel bad at all.

He sat beside them while taking the card away. He opened it and almost choked on the piece of fudge he was chewing.

Wen Qinxi, "..."
