[Lyander's POV]

"Is it alright?" Colm asked when Ernst didn't mention the idea of forming alliances with the other pacts came from me.

"It's fine. I didn't tell him about my plans to earn recognition in the first place. Ernst made the right choice by not mentioning me."

My gaze went briefly to Reynar when I sensed his familiar glare. "If he said that the idea came from me, it would create discord amongst us. Those who want me to take over the Alpha's position will voice their opinion, and this is neither the time nor place to be divided. We have to be united with a single goal . . . even for just this time."

Colm stretched out his tongue and placed his hands on the back of his head. "You just didn't want the attention to be shifted on you. Rather, it is to your advantage that Ernst didn't mention your name, saving you another day of torment to become the Alpha by the others."
