Chapter 7: Setting Up The Village

"Thank God." I teared up while saying this and repeated,"Thank God we survived." I fell into the ground after we returned and my shelter could be in my line of sight.

I wasn't this happy since a long time, but I couldn't be happier for longer. We may have survived those barbarians but we ran out of food in our journey and had to suppress our appetite with nuts and berries we found in the forest, till we reached back.

When I properly counted, there were 47 of them and feeding them was no easy task. Even if I were to take the food from the storage it'll only last them at most a month.

I'll have to start from thr beginning once again, with these people. It wasn't as depressing as earlier but rather I was happier to get a company. If luck stays in our fists, we could overcome this too.

At first we had to heal the injured. Most of them didn't had any wounds, they were just completely exhausted from over working and extreme calorie deficit. Others had some cuts, bruises and wounds here and there which would be cured from medicinal plants from the forest but it'll take some time.

After one week when everyone was well enough to make walk without any problems, I was ready to execute my plans.

I called everyone to gather before me and I gave everyone a stone axe, and began clearing the forest. Our first goal was to produce enough food that'll content everyone.

After the first day ended we had cleared enough forest that would take me around 2 months to complete if I were to do alone, with that we got an extra huge supply of wood and I knew what we have to do with that.

Next day we tiled the land with wooden plough, it was was completed in an instant but people mostly kids were completely tired. It was a pity that I couldn't give them anymore food than the quota, I'll have to save it if we want to last till we do the huge harvest.

Next few days we were busy for a lot of things but we did a fair amount of work. We added manure to the fields, cleared the forest, cut down the logs and build the mud houses just near my shelter. All with the span of one week.

I also gave each of them a name which had been a very bad idea which I had to face for the initial days. Each one was assigned to remember its own name and whenever I pointed at any of them, they were practiced enough to repeat the name I taught.

Occasionally whenever i saw the girl whom I saved from the barbarian, she would turn her eyes off me and a blushed look broke in her face. I named her Zoya.

Tahari, out of all had been a tremendous asset, he had been working hard ever since he came here. He was assigned a whole house to himself where he would rarely visit except for routine sleep.

Zoya was severely peculiar. I would catch her frequently peeking at me and suddenly looking away when I catch her.

Human which were very similar to us evolved around the time of 200,000 BC and language wasn't invented till 50,000 BC. Conversation with them was already hard and I didn't wanted this to continue.

With this I had another goal, to skip 150,000 years and teach them the language now. Every night after dinner I would give them small lessons on English and the alphabets. After they were done with alphabets, I planned to teach them some nouns and would continue as I felt necessary.

Days passed and nights fell. The people had developed a great sense of trust on me and that made me feel more responsible for them. We even had some nasty incidents which is a tale for other day.

5 months passed, and we were ready for the harvest of the crops. It was a special moment for all of us, we have now ensured the survival of everyone with this.

After harvest a big party was performed where a huge fire was lit an everyone danced with hand tied around one another.

I, on the other hand, didn't participated, until Zoya caught her eye on me. She walked towards me slowly and sat near me. We watched others dance for a long time.

Air escaped my lungs when Zoya's pinky finger touched my mine, and slowly her hand entangled mine and she stood up still holding mine. She carried me near the crowd where we danced together.

I don't remember how long we danced near the fire, but it had been a really good time because I just couldn't forget it anytime soon.

"You....help....me.....us..I...uh...Thank..you...",all thanks to my classes she spoke good enough for me to understand and I a wave of serenity engulfed me, I was happy for what I had. Right now, right at this moment. I didn't cared for anything more.

"Anything for you." I replied. She blushed again this time she pulled me close and hugged me. My heart skipped a beat at this sudden act and the somehow the music sounded a bit lower and all I could hear was her breathing. This was seriously the night I would never forget.

After harvesting, we don't have to be worried about food and we could now focus on other things. I had decided that I would give them everything I had in my knowledge, speed running all those years of human trial and error to provide them right and valuable information.

Unexpectedly I became the leader of the village. Everyone had no say or any objection with my ideas. They improved in their talks, I can now converse with them, but not as clearly as the ones from my age.

To improve the village, I laid the foundation of it. People should have a very clear hygiene status, there shouldn't be any fighting among themselves, they should rather help each other and at last, to strive for betterment.

I asked for all the small kids to spend as much time with me as much as they can. Since they're small and growing at a fast rate, it would be easier for them to learn the language by ear.

After everyone has a basic idea about the language I just started to talk normally like I used to. This would certainly help them to understand things better.

Language plays a really important role. Just by mere grunting it would be hard to address any precise things. That's why it was first priority to make them learn a language.

Writing was majorly important as spoken language, something can be told without the the presence of the idea carrier. Right now it seems that it's working somehow.

We were off to start a new civilization, a civilization with immense potential.
