Chapter 4: The Village
After failing to find golem part for the goblins, the goblins and boars had left with little issue as the undead were still distracted eating the brave boar as the hide was too tough for them to get through until recently.
I go back to training while keeping an ear out in case I get new visitors every now and again.
-Goblin POV-
"By Forg, these boars are strong!" a goblin said surprised as a small tree was uprooted by the tusks of the male boar "Blaze"
"I agree, and the babies are cute. It definitely was a good choice bringing them along." replied another goblin to the surprised goblin.
The boars were named by the golem and it goes as following...
The male is Blazer, the female is Abigail, the male baby is Rex, and the female baby is Rita.
After sleeping for the night, we set out at first light and finally get out of the "Forest of End".
Around noon is when we finally get back to the village where there are 2 large goblins standing and they greet us.
"Heh, it seems you losers failed to get a golem part, and instead got some pets, you got some serious balls." said one of the guards snobbily.
The other guard calls for the leader of their tribe "Chief" saying the warriors have returned, and looks curiously at the boars.
After a few moments of silence the goblin leader comes to the entrance.
"Hello Darn, I see no golem part, I assume you failed the mission?" said Chief.
"Y-yes sir, we failed as the undead were stronger than we thought and the golem was impossible to take down with stone weapons." Darn the elder goblin said solemnly.
"I see, and what is with those boars, huh?" Chief said questioningly.
"O-oh these? T-they were inside the mansion and w-we were able to t-tame them.' Darn said stuttering his words in fear.
"Wait a minute! How the hell did you tame Blaze boars?!" said Chief as he realized what the boars actually were.
"Blaze boars sir? W-well I will admit I have never heard of them before, but are they so terrifying? My group and I just find them to be very strong." Darn replied while caressing Blaze's fur who then lick's Darn.
"I-I see, in that case I permit your tribe's survival and will even promote you to be our clans cavalry if what you said was true." Chief replied with everyone in the area looking at him as if he went crazy.
"I've fought a blaze boar before with a group of soldiers and nearly everyone died just to take down 1, so 2 adults and babies is out of the question, and if you can ride them then you will probably be the strongest force we have." -Chief.
Darn's group looks at each other before raising a cheer and some hug boars while crying while Darn is stupefied by what just occurred.
A brief, more detailed telling as to why these goblins needed a golem part and are now crying.
Darn's village was more peaceful compared to other goblin villages due to their abundance of female goblins and the fertile lands around them, the creatures around them were keeping the population in check and as such had very little problems and everything they could possibly need.
A council of female goblins and a head male goblin lead the tribe with Darn as the current Head male due to his wisdom and intellect.
Recently, a goblin horde had grown to great size and strength and begun to take over the neighboring villages, with Chief being the son of the Horde leader and given a mission to take over a village like his brothers.
After taking over the village, he issued a challenge to the warriors and leader of Darn's tribe, to go to the Forest of End and retrieve a golem part and with no other options Darn's group left and had 2 days to get said part, and if they failed, all the men in their tribe would die and the women kidnapped.
-A couple of days after Chief's surprise announcement-
In a simple, crudely made, wooden dark room lit by torches, a goblin salutes a sitting larger goblin.
"Hello father, I have come back from the eastern tribe with news that I have obtained a source of potential cavalry and fertile lands" said Chief as he did a salute to the larger older goblin sitting on a throne made of bones.
"Oh? And here I thought you weren't cut out for this sorta thing, so, what happened that gave you such great achievements little brother?" said Chief's older brother Gran.
"I see that mouth of yours still spits out crap at a rapid pace, brother." Chief said with anger visibly on his face.
"Quiet! While I agree with Chief that you're speaking what you shouldn't, I also agree that you should tell us as to how you procured such valuable assets." said Mixa, their father and clan leader.
"Yes father! It was just that I was interrupted before I could tell you, in the village to the east, I had sent out their warriors to partake in a test, to grab a golem part and return with it. Instead of a golem part, they had returned with blaze boars!" as Chief said this both goblins shudder in surprise.
"Wait wait wait, did you just say blaze boars?! The boars that live in the Forest of End and kill us hobgoblins with great ease?! The same boars where strong humans still struggle to kill one, that blaze boar?!" said Gran with sweat coming down like raindrops.
"How do you think I felt when I saw the 2 adults as well as 2 babies?" Chief retorted.
"I-I understand, this indeed a great boon for our clan if such creatures are under our control, so how did these goblins tame them?" Mixa said.
"It seems as though the goblins healed the boars and gained their trust, not only that but all the boars are named, and will only follow the goblins of the village to the east, Jiki village." said Chief
"No way, 1 named blaze boar alone would be the equivalent to a squad of orcs! And if what you're saying is true, then there are 4 of them?!" said Gran exasperated.
Only 1 person in that room was smiling and it was their father, the clan leader, Mixa
"I see, in that case we must ensure that that village prospers even more from now on as we will be given a great boon. Inform the guards that I will be giving my son Chief 3 captured humans so Jiki village prospers even more, I also want 10 hobgoblins to escort him and become his direct subordinates! Finally I want 4 beast keepers to assist in taking care of the Blaze boars, as well as several instructors so the Jiki goblins can fight while mounted. Remember, this is for the good of the clan, ensure their loyalty and even more rewards shall be given to you, do you agree with this Garn?" Mixa Said in a threatening tone near the end of his proclamation.
"Of course father! In fact, may I request to directly support Chief in this endeavor? I fear he may be lacking in the management department and as such would like permission to assist him directly if possible." Garn said as he bowed to his father.
"I see, however there are 2 conditions, 1, Chief must allow this and 2, both of you must give me a report on what happened during those times." Mixa said in an ordering tone.
"Of course father! Chief please understand before you say no, understand I have no ill will in this, I only want the prosperity of the clan and the potential of finally getting revenge on those shit eating orcs!" -Garn
"I see, I have no means to deny such a thing and have only 3 villages under my care while you have 7, and even then you have plenty of spare time to do things like this, *sigh* fine, I accept these conditions as the Jiki goblins actually seem close to being hobgoblins themselves." -Chief
The other children of Mixa soon come into the room to give their reports and are surprised to see Garn and Chief talking about the management of the village, they only heard that several hobs, goblins, and even some human females would be given to Chief but doubted it until now.
After the last of Mixa's children give their reports does Mixa let Chief tell them about what happened at Jiki village with the same reactions and questions as Garn had prior from the siblings.
Despite some hesitation with 3 of them, all of Mixa's children eventually agree to the support of Garn to Chief and the rewards of such achievements.
