Chapter 10: Chapter 11

Jonah stood in the shed beside the house and stared. Dakota had just whipped a tarpaulin cover off a shiny, over-sized all-terrain vehicle in gleaming black and red.

"This is yours?" He walked around it slowly.

"Uh-huh." She was grinning at him "What? Did you think I kept a horse out here to get around? My truck certainly isn't built for anything but going to town and back."

Jonah looked around. "You really could keep a horse here. Ride him everywhere. Think how great you'd feel with the sun on your face and the wind in your hair."

"Not to mention the muscles from shoveling horse shit and currying the poor animal." She snorted. "Are you some kind of poet or something?"

He laughed. "Nope. You just inspire me. And anyway, I thought all Indians liked horses."
