Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Parallel Worlds

Suspended between parallel worlds, he drifts. It's an odd sensation.

Ambrose wonders if this is how one feels before birth when in the bosom of a mother's womb, surrounded by water.

Fiery-red wisps of hair float by. The strands tickle his arm.

"Mercy." He just spoke her name, but no sound emerges from his mouth. "Mercy," he shouts louder and twists around to face her. "Can you hear me?"

Eyes closed and motionless, she floats in the void.

He reaches for her, but his fingers travel through her arm as if she's an aberration. The translucency of his flesh draws his attention to his nimble fingers. He can sense them, yet they're not solid, at least, not like before.

"Is she okay? Are we, am I dead?" He floats in the endless space. "Answer me, Sith. I know you're here."
