Chapter 8: The paper dance (2)
The King was surprised by his request. All his other wives took advantage of the chance to ask for lands and wealth. They asked for gold and diamonds even palaces but for the second time he found a bright one among them.
Power in court was the most important thing, what is the use of being a queen when you have no power.
"The gift I want is you. To own you, body, soul and mind," Marcus asked to him.
"But my prince, you have asked for two things. Be clear on what you want," the werewolf king told to him.
"The first part of my request was an explanation of my request. If I own you then I definitely will be your most beloved and treasured partner," the prince said.
The King wanted to stop and applaud to him for the smart way that he played with words but the challenge they were doing stopped him.
"That concludes the second round of the dance," the announcement was made. "The paper keeps getting smaller, so let's see who wins."
The paper was again folded in half. It was such that only one person could step on it, the king volunteered and took to the paper. He stretched his hand to Marcus, the prince took his hands.
He removed his shoes and climbed with his feet on top of the werewolf king's feet. The King held him close so that he doesn't fall. Marcus minded the closeness but not as much as before.
He was going this for his people and for his land he was capable of anything.
"You have not told your answer my king," the male claimed. "What do you say of my request?"
"I accept," the king told to him. " But someone else had made the request many years ago, so you will have to share me with her," the king informed him.
Marcus had no problem with that, as long as he mattered and had a voice in Zayion. After all, he was going to need it if ever the werewolves decided to attack his people.
He would have to protect his people from Zayion now and in the future.
"Who is she?" he inquired softly. He leaned his head on the king's shoulder. He was really tired from everything that. happened since morning.
All the drama and change of not just his name but status, kingdom, home and more was too much for him and he needed rest.
"Her name is Reina, she is the queen of Zayion," the king let out.
The dance went on with people dropping out of the dance. The King let Marcus use him to take rest, the added weight hardly made a difference to him. Since he had super strength.
The song changed since their we're still many couples that were in the contests. The werewolf king and his bride hardly looked like they were stopping at anytime.
"We have to get going," the werewolf king's right hand man informed him.
The King raised his brow at him in question of the sudden rush. He had announced that he would stay in Narsia for four days. Yes, he might have pushed the wedding forward in that very day but he still wanted to stay back.
His right hand man used his hand to inform him of the problem, the king's mood a 360 degree turn from his jolly mood to a cold indifferent expression.
"The celebrations are over," he uttered coldly in a voice that sent shivers through everyone's spine.
Marcus woke up from his sleep from the sound of his voice. He was unaware of what was going on.
"You are awake, good. We need to leave at once," the king instructed. He set Marcus down on the ground and made a move.
His entourage formed behind him, he walked side by side with Marcus who was still confused.
"Where are we going and what happened?" he questioned to the king. The werewolf king seemed to be deep in thought, he didn't reply to his question and continued in his path.
He took off his coat and gave it to one of the men following behind him. "The trackers and the speedsters can follow me. Everyone else escort Marcus home," he instructed.
Before Marcus could ask him what was going on, all the men in blue coats followed behind the king. They were undressing while running towards the gates of the palace.
Marcus got a front row seat in watching all those men transform into werewolves. The gates were already opened to them, in no minute they had vanished from his view.
They were moving so fast that it was hard to keep up with them. He didn't even want to know where they were going, the less he knew of the supernatural world the better.
He took to the king's palanquin and the journey to his new home began. It was too bad that he didn't get to say goodbye to his family. But it was for the best, he needed to take a few days to get over everything that had happened.
Only then can he face them without thinking of how unjust their decision was.
He looked around to find food all around him prepared for two. He had no idea of just how hungry he was until he saw the food.
He dished out some food and slowly ate it while thinking. His life was going to be different from then on, he had become the bride of the king of werewolves.
Everyone in has court was probably a werewolf and he is human. That was a challenge but he decided not to let it affect him much. He just needed to know how to get the king's favour to stay on him.
With all the wives the king had, he would have to brush up on his seductive skills to keep the king's attention to himself at all times.
His land depended on it. The peace between the two kingdoms depended on the success of his marriage.
