-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Alex Walker POV]

For the next following days, after talking with Thor, I continued doing dungeons. Familiarizing not only with my weapon on a deep fundamental level but with my skills. Before, I had never had the need to train, really train.

Before all of this, my approach to things was always the most simplistic one. Sure, I planned and trained, but my training wasn't really training, and my plans weren't really plans.

I had several skills in my arsenal. Yet, I had never actually familiarized myself with any of them; instead, simply deciding to use whatever was the most powerful thing at any given moment.

And while this approach had worked so far, I knew it was bound to fail, eventually.

It was a glaring weakness of mine, the oversimplification of things. I planned and trained but kept my path dangerously linear.

I had won every fight I had ever been in because I had always been the top dog.

Never really needing more than raw strength and a simple, straightforward strategy to solve my problems.

Power alone was not always the key to victory. Sure, it helped a lot, being powerful, not gonna lie, but brawn without brain would never really amount to much, and the same could be said about brains without brawn.

There were many things I could do with what I had, many applications to my powers. Applications I never even considered. Instead, using my powers in the most basic manner to tackle everything ahead of me.

I had wasted my potential before. But now that I was aware, I would not allow that to happen.

"Skills," I muttered, opening my skill tab as I walked through the seemingly empty dungeon, nearing the boss area.

[Skills]

[Mana Tune - ACTIVE/BUFF - LV 161 =

This buff allows the user to become more sensitive to mana, giving the user the ability to control and manage his mana better. While active, this buff regenerates the target's MP for (1.6% of WIS) per second for an hour.

MP/s without {Serenity} = 112131 MP/s.

MP/s with {Serenity} = 280329 MP/s.

Cooldown = 1 hour.

No cost.]

[Determination - ACTIVE/BUFF - LV 159 =

This buff allows the user to become more sensitive to the life around him and within himself, giving the user the ability to control and manage his HP better. While active, the user regenerates (0.3% of his maximum health every second.) for an hour.

HP/s without {Serenity} = 2367022 HP/s.

HP/s with {Serenity} = 5917557 HP/s.

Cooldown = 1 hour.

No cost.]

[Cosmic Armor - ACTIVE - LV 181 =

This ability gives the user or his target a shield that lasts 5 hours, absorbing a total [(181 * 1% of INT * 0.8% of WIS) / 362] of damage before breaking. The user cannot shield himself or a friendly target after the shield breaks for 30 minutes.

SHIELD amount without {Serenity} = 128224971.

SHIELD amount with {Serenity} = 801476041.

Cooldown = 1 sec.

Cost = 1.5% of total MP.]

Those were the main sustain skills I was leveling. Beyond that, I was also focusing on leveling [Precognition]; after all, the best way to sustain oneself in battle was to avoid all damage altogether.

I was also increasing my weapon skill level.

[Serenity - Weapon Skill - Passive - LV 579 =

Allows the user to freely handle Serenity better. 6369% increase in energy consumption efficiency.

Affinity LV 10 = +50% increase to all weapon buffs.]

As for damaging abilities.

Well, I didn't have anything solid yet to use against Knull. I already had a good enough defense prepared for him in terms of skills, but in the offensive area, I was still lacking.

I was, however, planning to fix that.

Based on my information about him, I knew he was weak against light-based powers and anything that affected his connection to the symbiote hive mind.

With that, I had more than enough to work with.

At least on the light-based part.

I yet had to face a symbiote to see how the hive mind in question operated. So, trying to weaken him through this mental connection was a maybe for the time being.

This wasn't to say I was not gonna explore the possibilities of said weakness, only that exploring said possibilities would not be my main priority for now.

I first wanted to tackle the baser aspect of combat; before indulging any of my already limited time in other less direct strategies to deal with Knull.

"Here we are," I muttered, eyeing my map to confirm where I was. The castle of Tharaliel, The Angel of Light, the boss of this dungeon. According to the dungeon description, he was an archangel on a holy mission to erase all mortal life from the planet.

Not that I really cared about the narrative of the dungeon, to begin with. I was here mainly because of the skills he had a chance to drop on his loot, which were all light-based skills.

Sadly, unlike Abaddon, there was no achievement to unlock his skills, meaning I had to kill him and hope for the best. If I was lucky, I would get what I wanted on the first run; if I wasn't, well, I would be here for a while.

Not that it bothered me.

This dungeon was on my level, and regardless of what Tharaliel dropped on the first run, I would still run it again. Granted, it would be best if I got the skills as soon as possible because that way, I would be able to start leveling them up sooner.

I especially wanted the skills [Holy Rainfall], [Lumen Cordis], and [Lumen Mortem].

Based on the dungeon guide explaining about Tharaliel's abilities, those three skills were a must-have in what I was preparing for. Especially the last one, [Lumen Mortem].

"Well, time to kick some angelic ass!" I declared, kicking the doors of Tharaliel's castle open. Ready to erase his feathery ass for the first time out of many.

"Finally, you have arrived, mortal," I heard a melodic, soothing voice echo across the castle. As a figure came into view with a blinding flash of light, a man, twice as tall as the average human, with four pairs of wings on his back, wearing an armor that seemed to be made entirely out of gold. "I understand you've been looking for me." He smiled, his hand extending towards him in a gesture that reminded me of all paintings, "Come, then. Show me the power of the one that vanquished my armies."

Armies? He had at best two hundred angels around the dungeon. That's not an army; that's a cult, if anything.

[Holy Rainfall - ACTIVE - LV 41

By creating a magic circle with a simple incantation, the user will soon be surrounded by bright particles of pure light that will span the surrounding area, covering it with a holy shine. Once the spell is fully charged, and the light particles have stopped spawning.

A hail of light will rain down from the skies around the user, inflicting damage to anyone the caster deems an enemy.

Cooldown = 25 seconds.

Casting Time = 2 seconds.

Cost = 1% of total MP.]

[Lightbolt - ACTIVE - LV 98

The user launches a bolt of light at the enemy, healing the user for (5.7% of INT) while dealing holy/light damage to the enemy. This spell has a small chance of afflicting the enemy with [Holy Atonement] for 15 seconds.

Holy Atonement = Target's afflicted with this, take 10% more holy/light damage.

Cooldown = 1 second.

Cost = 30000MP.]

[Holy Barrage - ACTIVE - LV 118

The user launches several bolts of holy/light energy at the enemy target. This spell has a small chance of afflicting the enemy with [Holy Atonement] for 15 seconds.

Holy Atonement = Target's afflicted with this, take 10% more holy/light damage.

Cooldown = 3 seconds.

Cost = 45000MP.]

[Holy Nova - ACTIVE - LV 115

By using this skill, the user channels his divine power, creating an explosion of heavenly light around himself, dealing holy/light damage to all enemies around in a 50m radius. Healing all allies in the same area for (1.5% of INT).

Cost = 232217 MP.]

[Lumen Cordis - ACTIVE - LV 77

Hurls an immense ball of heavenly light at the enemy causing holy/light damage. It heals the user for (15% of INT). This skill has the chance to afflict the enemy with [Holy Atonement].

Holy Atonement = Target's afflicted with this, take 10% more holy/light damage.

Casting Time = 4 seconds.

Cost = 1.5% of total MP.]

[Lumen Mortem - ACTIVE - LV 19

A beautifully divine yet dangerous spell. With a short incantation, the user welcomes the light into him with open arms, being, in turn, completely enveloped by heavenly particles of light that absorb all around him all forms of available light present, from the sky and beyond.

Once there's no more light to absorb, the user releases this energy down on the enemy in the form of a beam of pure divine light.

Cooldown = 10 hours.

Cost = 100% of total MP.]

"I think that will do," I nodded with a smile, reading over the spells I had acquired to fight Knull during this past week, feeling proud I had managed to get them all before shit went down. Now, it was simply a matter of continuing with my leveling; the skills I wanted to use would grow with me during the whole process.

I already had all the skills I wanted or felt I needed to fight Knull.

Meaning that the rest would fall into place alone.

In other words, no more hunting for skills. Now, it was time to grind some EXP.

"Let's see…." I muttered, opening my dungeon tab with a thought to see what I had available for my level that gave the most EXP.

[Delves of the Gentle God - LV 3215 - 3290.

Maze of the Doomed Hunter - LV 3275 - 3350.

Tombs of the Neglected - LV 3277 - 3352.

Lair of the Ruthless - LV 3354 - 3407.

The Whispering Shadows Vault - LV 3400 - 3500.

The Forsaken Maze - LV 3425 - 3516.

The Sunken Vault - LV 3520 - 3700.

The Ethereal Vault - LV 3715 - 3901.

The Demonic Lair - LV 4000 - 4657.]

Well, I can only do one… the Delves of the Gentle God; the rest are above my LV, so I can't really enter them, even if I wanted to risk it. "A lot of Vaults and Mazes in the dungeon menu now that I see it…." I chuckled, realizing there were three vaults and two mazes. And, now that I see it again, some Lairs as well.

I guess why change what works? Am I right?

—-----------------------

[Thor Odinson POV]

I was far behind my brother now.

I could no longer walk by his side, shoulder to shoulder, let alone see his back or shadow anymore.

I was running an uphill battle to reach him, and while my training was proving to be rather effective, mighty even, so might say. I was still falling behind.

Each step I took towards him meant my brother had taken a thousand steps more.

This, however, was entirely my fault.

Sure, there was no doubt that my incredible brother was a mighty being without equal! Save for me, of course. Nevertheless, his potential was one worthy of envy, respect, admiration, and fear.

All of this was nothing but the truth!

As it was an undeniable fact, I was to blame for falling behind.

I was barely tapping into my power, grasping the mere surface of it all, having access only to what little my body couldn't help but leak. I had realized this some time ago.

The Super Duper Thor.

That's the name I had given Alex.

A transformation that allowed me to tap into more of my power.

It wasn't really a transformation, or at all, really. It was more of an attunement process with my powers, where, by meditating, I would manage to access more power.

The results of this… varied.

Sometimes, I would not be able to draw any more power, resulting in an explosion that would send me flying away.

Other times, I would succeed in my mighty endeavor getting a sizable boost in power. However, this increase was temporary, lasting at much, a minute or two.

I didn't quite understand why that was.

I had a noble cause to fight for, a family to protect, and a Kingdom to rule, yet, my own power was rejecting me.

I even started to question, was I truly worthy of this power?

Turns out, I wasn't, not yet.

I had yet some lessons to learn.

One of them was that this situation I was currently dealing with, with not being able to access all of my power, wasn't something new.

I had had this glaring flaw for a long, long time.

I had never truly been at full power. Because as a blind, stupid fool, I had never tried to learn about myself, about my powers, neglecting what made me Thor, the promised son of Asgard.

I refused to continue that way.

Mother used to say something when I was but a boy.

My sweet child, to uncover your true potential, you must first find your own limits, and then you have to have the courage to blow past them.

I never really understood what she meant by that, not at that time.

Now, I did.

"Just wait, brother, you will not face the challenges ahead alone," I smiled, for the day I allowed my sworn brother to be alone in this universe would be the day of my death.
