Chapter 16: An Anomaly

It was in the wee hours that Nihaal could finally find some sleep – but not for long. He slowly turned in his sleep, getting uneasy as if he was being watched. He opened his eyes to see a quiet figure sitting on the arm chair, looking at him. Nihaal sat up, large eyes, long lashes, thick hair cascading over the shapely shoulders – there was no mistaking. It was Rani. She sat in her favorite spot wearing a lemon-yellow taffeta nightgown, embellished with frills at the collar and the wrists – just as she liked them. She fondly smiled at him and said, ‘you look different my dear.’

‘Different? No…Rani, I am the same, I am your Nihaal’, he said earnestly.
