Leon placed his pen on the table. A smile appeared on his face when he saw Allynna had changed her short pants into a beautiful dress.
He walked to the seating area and sat opposite her.
"Miss Allynna, you look more stunning and elegant in this dress. From now on, you must wear this kind of outfit. This dress suits you well," He said casually.
Allynna, "..."
"Your guess is correct, Miss. Allynna," Leon continued. He feels amused when he hears her, though. Sure, this girl has a lot on her mind.
'Which one? Your servant doesn't like me? Or, you came from a high noble family in the capital?' Allynna couldn't express her question. She could only say in her mind while her eyes flashed with curiosity as she looked at him.
"Well, you could say I come from a high-ranking noble family in the capital. Therefore, before going to the capital, you must learn good manners. Not that it matters to me..." Leon paused to see her response.
"It's important for you so that other people don't look down on you. As I can see, you never get proper lessons on how to act like a noble family, right?" He continues calmly. "I hope you don't get offended by my words, Miss Allynna. This is all for your own good."
Allynna felt his words hit her heart sharply. She can't hold back to say, "Sir Leon, I think you are wrong. My deceased parent taught me about manners, alright! Please don't disrespect them by saying that!"
Her parents had indeed actually taught her. But she wasn't interested in it back then, so what her mother taught her never settled and passed through her mind.
Leon ignored her. He continued, "As for my servant and this mansion staff, they do not ignore you. But they respect you. Your position as my future bride is way above them, so you don't have to talk to them if it's not necessary. And you don't have to bow when you see them."
Allynna feels dizzy hearing Leon's long explanation about dos and don'ts. She didn't say anything to him again; she only tried to remember everything clearly. Moreover, she's going to the capital soon; she'll meet more people around him.
"And Geoffrey is my butler. For now, he will teach you basic manners as a Lady in my house," Leon pauses while looking at the girl staring at him. Her eyes looked so bright it made him feel a nameless feeling in his heart.
Leon cleared his throat before continuing, "Anything else you want to ask, Miss Allynna?"
'Do I have to ask you? You already know everything in my mind, don't you?' She answers him through her mind while looking at his golden eyes, waiting for him to respond to her inner questions.
But she was baffled because Leon only stared back at her, not saying a single word. It Made Allynna feel unsure again.
'Can he really read my mind? Why is he silent now?'
After a few seconds, Allynna finally gave up. She asked him, "S-Sir Leon, I have a question. Are you really able to find my biological parents?" Her voice trembled slightly, asking the number one question in her mind.
Leon nods, answering her question.
"YOU DO!?" Her eyes are wide in shock. If Leon knows her real parents, they will meet them soon, right?
"Sir Leon, are they still alive? Where do they live now? Do you know why they left me alone on this island? Why did they abandon me?" She continued to spill everything that was bothering her mind.
"Miss Allynna, although I know who they are right now, I can't tell you who they are."
Leon's words sound like thunder in Allynna's mind. She can't help but ask, "Why? They don't want me?"
For the first time, Allynna wants to cry before this man, knowing her parents really abandoned her. She can't hold her tears. With her blurry eyes, she looked at Leon. Her heart even more hurt when she saw him keep silent.
'Silence means yes! So, they really left me and don't want me anymore?' She whispered softly, feeling the nameless paint seep into her heart.
Allynna lowered her head, looking at her feet while crying silently. Instantly, her chest felt tight, as if someone was pressing her chest.
...
Leon was dumbfounded when he saw the girl sobbing with her imagination running out of control.
"Miss Allynna, what do you think is completely erroneous!"
Allynna raised her head to look at Leon with a confused look.
"Your real parents, they didn't abandon you. You were taken from them without their knowledge when you were still an infant. Both of your parents are still alive, and they have never forgotten you. Until today, they are still looking for you."
"B-But earlier, you said I couldn't meet them. Why?" Allynna wiped her tears. Her heart started beating faster than usual, knowing that she was wrong. She was very happy to hear that her parents had not abandoned her and that they were still looking for her.
"Because someone wants your life so bad. They will do anything to get their evil hands on you."
Allynna was shocked to hear his words, but she didn't interrupt him, she waited for him to finish them.
"I can't let others, especially yourself, know your true identity. Not now and not in the near future. Because the more you know, the more your life will be exposed to danger. What you need to know now is. You can't tell anyone that you're an adopted child. Your current identity is Allynna Frost, who lives on Sarlun Island."
Allynna was increasingly shocked hearing Leon's explanation. 'Someone wants to kill me! Who? Who!?' she was puzzled.
"Miss Allynna, you must be patient. The time will come... where I will tell you everything."
Instantly, Allynna felt her shoulder slump, disappointed. "Till when should I wait for it, sir Leon?" She wanted to ask him that, but somehow her voice betrayed her. She couldn't speak.
"I can't protect you all the time; you must wait until your power appears, so, you can protect yourself," Leon said as if wanted to answer her inner thought.
Allynna was shocked to hear the facts; she had power. Does that mean that her parents are a noble family?
Before she could ask, she heard Leon ask her, "Miss Allynna, you want to know when you can meet your parents?"
Allynna nods.
A smile appeared on Leon's face when he saw the girl finally emitted a hint of joy from her eyes; unlike before, she looked so anguished.
"When I found out who the person who kidnapped you and abandoned you on the Sarlun." A fierce, murderous aura immediately emerged from Leon's gaze.
Allynna was happy to hear that her parents didn't throw her away. But she was confused. Why would someone kidnap her? Was she kidnapped because the kidnapper needed money? Or was she kidnapped by her parents' enemies?
"Sir Leon, why would someone want to kidnap me?"
"Because you are related to me—" Leon just stared at her with complicated-looking eyes, unable to finish his word.
Allynna lay on her bed while staring at the chandelier on the ceiling. Her mind is busy digesting Leon's explanations about her birth parents and why she ended up on this island.
She is upset because, at this time, she has not been able to meet them yet. However, hearing that her parents are still alive and have never abandoned her makes her heart delighted. Even now, they are still looking for her. And it is healing the sorrowful feeling that has lingered in her heart for so long.
Now, Allynna would follow Leon's advice. She will focus on school while practicing her superpower once it appears.
Talking about her superpower, Leon promised to be her mentor to cultivate her power to the fullest.
She was excited to know what abilities she would acquire.
Can she read minds like Leon?
How many skills will she magically develop? Is it just one, or could it be more than one?
From the history books she read, the purer the royal blood that flows in the body of the chosen one, the greater the chance that they have more than one ability. Like the emperor, it is said that he has three or even more.
'How about Leon? How many abilities does he have?' She wonders.
Allynna believed Leon could read minds because he could correctly guess what was going through her mind almost all the time.
Knowing this, Allynna tried not to think about anything specific when she was in front of or around him. However, it was arduous because her confidence immediately perished every time she looked into his golden eyes.
...
A knock on the door alerts Allynna.
She wakes up and straightens her clothes before she asks who it is.
"My Lady, This is Lella..."
Allynna was relieved when she heard Lella's voice.
"What is it, Lella..?" She tries hard to act like a true, noble lady.
"My Lady, dinner is ready. I'll take you to the dining room," Lella said while bowing her head.
When Allyna arrived at the dining room, she saw Leon seated at the end of the long table. She immediately went to the chair Geoffrey had prepared and sat on Leon's left side.
She greeted Leon politely before taking her seat. And as usual, he just nodded with his deadpan expression.
"Miss Allynna, you must remember. Breakfast is always at 7 AM and dinner at 7 PM. It would be pleasant if you could be on time." Leon said, then started to eat.
"Yes, Sir. I will remember," Allynna answered him softly.
They are eating in silence.
Allynna tries to enjoy dinner with a dish she has never seen before. She also focuses her thoughts only on the foods in front of her. The grilled meat looks delicious, and when she tastes it, it is rich in flavor and makes her mouth-watering for more. She began to guess the spices used by the chef while chewing her food slowly.
She excitedly wanted to make these dishes. But she became cheerless when she realized she couldn't cook at Leon's mansion.
But deep in her heart, Allynna still hopes she has another chance to cook because every time she cooks, she feels her mind and spirit become at ease, remembering her mom.
'Sir Leon, I hope you allow me to cook in your house. I promise to make a delicious meal for you,' Allynna wondered, knowing that Leon could hear her mind, so she purposely thought that way.
...
Before long, their dinner finished.
"Would you like to walk on the beach, Miss Allynna? It looks amazing even at night." Leon's offer made Allynna raise her head and look at him before she nodded.
She's been wanting to go to the beach ever since. But this noon, she was so absorbed in her thoughts that she forgot to go outside. She just spent her day shutting herself in her room, so she missed the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the beach before sunset.
They walked side by side on a dark beach, with only the moonlight shining on the sky.
Allynna enjoys the moment when the night breeze hits her gently. Leon purposely let her walk before him without speaking to her. She enjoyed it. This is the first time she can stroll on the beach after her parents die.
"It would be nice to swim here," Allynna says to herself. She wouldn't waste her energy talking to Leon because she knew the man rarely responded if she asked.
After they walked for a while, Allynna stopped and looked ahead to the moonlit and calm sea. In her mind, she suddenly thinks about a list of questions that she wants to ask him. She glanced at him.
Leon also stopped his step and now stood not too far from her.
"Sir Leon, may I ask you something?"
He glanced at her without saying a word, but he nodded.
"How old are you?"
Leon raises his eyebrow as if confused by this girl's question. How could she ask such an unimportant thing? For immortals like them, age was not something to think about. Because they will live forever, so no one will ever question it.
"Did you read your historical book, Miss Allynna?" Leon didn't answer her curiosity but asked her instead.
Allynna was taken aback.
"What's wrong? Shouldn't I also ask about age?"
Leon turned his face away from hers and looked back at the dark sea before him. He thought this girl needed a tutor to teach her about the royal family and the chosen one. She knows nothing.
Allynna tongue ties again, facing Leon's muted state. She set aside her intention to ask him and followed him to stare at the sea far ahead. They stood side by side in silence until Allynna felt a coat landed on her.
She immediately looked at him, who was now staring at her in the eyes.
"S-Sir Leon—" Allynna felt the sound of her heartbeat increase when their eyes met.
