Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Cancel the engagement
Laura looked at Nancy and nodded with agreement, "That's right. She has been a lovely girl since childhood."
Nancy replied with a weak smile.
"Right. Daniel was especially tolerant of Chloe. If someone dirtied him, he would be very unhappy. But when it came to Chloe, he chose to wipe her clean with his tidy sleeves."
Mrs. Vicky and Laura kept talking about fun things between Chloe and Daniel, and Nancy couldn't bear to stay any longer.
She turned to Daniel, "Daniel, I will go over with you guys."
"Then, you two can go first. I still want to hear Mrs. Vicky sharing something interesting about my childhood." Chloe gripped Mrs. Vicky on her arm like a little koala.
Nancy finally had a chance to stay with Daniel alone, and she was obviously happy about this, "Daniel, let's go then."
She stepped forward to hold Daniel's arm, but he avoided her at once, "Laura if you want to talk more, I might as well take you to the reception room."
Being left alone, Nancy clenched her hands tightly. She stared at Daniel's back full of grudge.
Half an hour later, Daniel and Chloe showed up in the hall together. The Johnson and the Bruce family were sitting in the front among all the guests.
The host was humorous and the atmosphere was nice. Finally, there came the most important moment: announce their engagement.
Chloe was such a romantic girl who imagined this significant scene in her dream a million times.
For this grand and perfect engagement, Grandpa Johnson and Grandpa Bruce hired several wedding planning companies to spend months and numerous money. They specially ordered many flowers and decorations from abroad.
All these efforts are to guarantee a fantastic and perfect engagement ceremony.
Now it was time for Daniel to make a speech.
When the host looked at Daniel's expressionless face, he nervously wiped his sweat, "Mr. Bruce, do you have anything to say about today's sacred and solemn ceremony?"
Daniel was silent for a few seconds, and the whole hall suddenly became a little suffocating.
"Let me do it then." Chloe smiled, and in the soft light, she was as beautiful as an angel.
Chloe looked at Daniel and sighed deeply. His enchanting face had captured her heart and soul for all her sweet youth and thus her biggest wish was to marry him. No one could ever compare to him. Apart from him, she didn't want to marry anyone.
But, to him, she wasn't this right one. And she couldn't force him to love her back. In this reborn life, she would make a different choice.
"I'm sorry to announce that the engagement banquet is canceled. Thank you for coming and I am so sorry to disappoint you today."
Then Chloe lowered her head and left without a word.
While Daniel frowned deeply at her words.
The whole venue was in a mess.
In the corner not far away, Nancy focused her vicious eyes on Chloe. When she heard Chloe announcing the cancellation of the engagement banquet, she was happy like crazy.
"Has everything been arranged properly? She left sooner than we expected."
"All has been arranged well."
"Good. Finish her and you will be rich." Nancy smiled. Chloe, I will not let you go this time.
Chloe left the hotel in a hurry. It was a wonderful night, with a bright moon and few shiny stars.
Chloe covered her face and still couldn't believe she just did it! Was she crazy to cancel the engagement banquet in front of the Bruce and Johnson family?
She must have gone mad just now, or how could she be so bold?
While she was still lost in thoughts, a dazzling light came at her from a distance.
Then a car arrived quickly and directly at Chloe. Was she going to be hit dead again?
Chloe got cold feet and involuntarily fell down on the ground, which surprisingly helped her avoid the speeding car.
Bang! Her leg was still run over by the car. Severe pain hit Chloe, and she fainted at once.
The car turned around and was ready to crash Chloe again. However, the driver suddenly saw someone chasing after Chloe. Afraid of being spotted, he had to leave here quickly.
While Chloe was losing her consciousness, there seemed to be a nervous voice in her ear, "Chloe! Chloe!"
The next day.
When Chloe woke up, she was surprised to find herself lying in the hospital...
"I am still alive? Great!"
"Great? I thought you wanted to die." Daniel answered her in a cold voice.
Chloe tilted her head and looked at Daniel, "Did you save me last night?"
At that time, before she lost the last trace of consciousness, she felt that Daniel was shouting her name anxiously.
Thinking of all these, Chloe had a very complicated feeling.
Did Daniel care about her? Did it matter to her if he did?
He couldn't!
Before her rebirth, she had been working so hard on their marriage, waiting for Daniel's return every day. But he seldom came home. Even if he did a few times, they barely talked to each other.
So he couldn't care about her.
Ouch! Her leg hurt so badly! She couldn't help moaning as she tried to touch the wound naturally.
Daniel immediately stopped her. "Your leg is broken and in plaster. Don't touch it."
His warm palm touched her cold fingertips, which also heated her heart. She was still eager for his warmth.
'Damn it! Stop thinking about him!'
"Aren't you angry about me? I just canceled the engagement in public last night. Shouldn't you be mad? When did you become so good-tempered?" Chloe mentioned this on purpose.
Daniel looked at her and thought for a moment, "Well, good point. Maybe I should ask you to compensate for my huge loss."
"What do you mean?" Confused, Chloe was about to get up straight.
"Relax now. You can pay the debt little by little." Daniel glanced at her and frowned, "I will ask my assistant to sort out the bills for the wedding banquet now, and I believe that you are totally capable of repaying the bill on your own, right?"
Now Chloe was too awkward to answer him.
She just graduated from college. How could she pay the bill on her own?
She shouldn't have brought up the topic in the first place!
"Well, I just got the right number. A total of twenty-five million. Miss Johnson, I respect you for this." Daniel took the bill from the assistant and put it firmly in front of Chloe.
While she felt desperate as she looked at all the invoices in front of her.
Daniel was serious about it!
How could he!
As a super-rich president, he didn't care to pity her and asked her to pay back!
Just as Chloe was staring at the invoices, the door was suddenly pushed open.
"Daniel, I come here to visit Miss Johnson. How is she today?"
