“I don’t know what you should do. We still need to find Varg, so perhaps you can keep on doing whatever it is you do.”

Ulf nodded.

“Elora and Leo can help. We need to locate him.”

Eli was drumming his fingers on the desk. Being alone in Jaecar’s office wasn’t the relief it had been yesterday. He didn’t want to go out into the open area—too many people—but he was…bored. He’d never believe he’d be bored being on his own.

He stopped his drumming when the cloud of lust, want, and frustration was walking his way. Jaecar knocked on the door and came inside.

“You don’t have to knock on your own door.”

He shrugged. “You never know.” His smile had warmth spreading in Eli’s chest, which then was followed by panic. He didn’t want to react to Jaecar’s smiles.
