He put the phone on speaker. “Mama…”

“Luigi, I was just thinking about you.”

“I’m over at Enzo’s. Can you come?” He wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead with his free hand.

“Of course, for my sons, I can come. Should I bring something for Genevieve? I can stop at Caputo’s.”

“No, Mama, Enzo has raspberry cheesecake.”

“Okay, I’ll see you in fifteen minutes.”

Enzo grabbed the phone. “Mama, it’s not an emergency, don’t speed.”

“Okay, twenty minutes then. I’m on my way.”

Mama Phina arrived in twenty minutes. “What’s wrong Luigi? Are you sick?”

“Hi, Mama.” Her sons greeted her with kisses on the cheek. She tapped her foot. Finally, Gray got the message he was also supposed to give out kisses too.

Mama Phina took her purse, which was really a satchel, and put it on the counter, then sat down in herchair in Enzo’s kitchen. “I’ve got one child with happy news. I hope, Luigi, that your news is happy.”
