Tears poured down Bobby’s cheeks. Bobby mouthed, “Thank you.” to Keith, Jason, Zach, Davey, and Jake. You never truly know someone until money is involved.
He motioned to Jason. “Can you get me a glass of water? I need to take one of these pills.”
Jason got him a bottle of spring water and he swallowed the two pills Greg prescribed.
Bobby sat dumb with grief for the rest of the evening. He knew people went by, kissed him, and shook his hand offering their condolences, but he couldn’t say who they were in relation to him or his parents. His mind was not computing. He caught that Reggie was staying at the house. That was good. It was too good a house to remain empty. Maybe Reggie would buy it, and Bobby could show him the plans he drew up to remodel it. His parents had liked it the way it was. He wanted someone he knew there, but it had to be changed it so it wouldn’t remind him of them.
