Since then there had been no other visitors. The only clue she had that time was passing was when the two silent guards brought her food. One would stand at the doorway, his rifle cocked and ready, the other setting a tray on the floor. A short time later, they would return to retrieve the tray, most often untouched.

She’d lost track of whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner. It always looked the same: some kind of soup, probably bean and a mystery meat and rice.

Cam paced. What was happening out there? Why was no one telling her anything? She walked back to the cell door and called out through the thin slit. As she expected, there was no response to her calls.

Cameron sank down onto the mattress and buried her head in her arms. Patience was not her strongest trait.10
