He narrowed his eyes in the dark. “Fate! Are you all right?”

Before Fate could answer, a voice came out of the darkness. “The trick-or-treaters have moved to the next street.”

“I’m not here for candy,” Dante said while he kept looking at the gleam of the knife at Fate’s throat. “Fate! Say something!”

“He’s crazy, Dante. He attacked me in the park, and he’s got a knife to my throat.”

“Let him go,” Dante warned.

“Not as long as I’ve got this knife in my hand,” Digger said.

As Dante’s anger began to grow, the trees began to rustle, and the wind began to kick up, and let out a mournful shriek.

Digger looked around. “What the hell is happening?”

“Nothing much. Just the stirring of anger…my anger. Just a warning, Digger, you don’t want to see me angry.”

“You don’t seem to understand who has the upper hand here. Look a little closer, creep, I’m the one holding the knife.”

“A mere technicality,” Dante said as he pointed his finger, and a lightning bolt knocked it out of hishand.
