Exactly twenty minutes later, Théo came up. “Miss Judith is here for the Alpha Mate’s physical therapy.”

“Are all wolves so precisely on time?” Julio gave Etienne a little pout.

“Always when it comes to business with the council.” Etienne turned to Théo. “Send her up.”

The physical therapist arrived, and Julio did his ankle pumps, head lifts, and buttocks lifts, two sets of each. He walked up and down the gallery twice and by the end of the session, he struggled to keep moving.

“The Grand Inquisitor” said he had done well. Julio had another takeaway from the PT session. “If I ever was injured, I always imagined I would be brave and suffer in silence like they do in Hollywood. Boy was I wrong. I’m a sniveling baby.”

From the half-formed thoughts Etienne perceived from their Mate link, he knew enough not to laugh.
