“You’re going to be eating a lot more to prepare your body for the mating. It’s going to be difficult to feed you enough as you’re on a special diet. Sean is going to have to come daily to use his Voice to help you heal. You can thank Sean that you didn’t wind up with a colostomy bag.” Kane passed him some more eggs.

“What?” Julio felt the blood leave his face. “I was going to get a colostomy bag?”

“That’s what usually happens when your intestines are torn up. Dr. Ballard was counting on Sean’s ability when he took a chance and didn’t use one.” Kane pressed his lips together and his expression grew stern. “Semen could seep out of the intestine and give you another bout of sepsis, and you almost didn’t survive the first one.”
