Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Sean and Donal ran up to him while Armand and Alexei followed at a more dignified pace. Artis excused himself and headed directly for the OR.

“Where is he?” Sean asked.

“In surgery, the knife went into his gut.” Etienne held his head in his hands. “I should have stayed at Alexei’s. Then when he talked about the cat, I could have driven him back to the apartment with Théo. This was my fault. I wasn’t thinking straight. I must have offended the gods. They’re punishing me.” Etienne swallowed hard and was unable to say anything else. Alexei put his arm around his shoulder.

Armand came over to Etienne. Etienne struggled to stand. “Let’s go upstairs to the surgical waiting area where we can get more information.” Armand guided the group over to the elevators and upstairs to the surgical floor.

As soon as they arrived upstairs, a loup garou nurse escorted them to a private waiting room. Armand sat next to Etienne on the turquoise faux leather couch. “Wait here.”
