Chapter 2: Strangers
Hilde found herself in the middle of an ocean, she was confused 'is this a dream' she thought to herself, but a dream can't feel this real. She couldn't move at all.
It felt as if she was stuck to the ground or should she say water. After staying in that position for about thirty minutes she started moving downwards.
Soon enough she saw creatures like mermaids, she was about to reach out to them before her alarm went off. She opened her eyes just to discover she was back in her room
"So it was a dream or.... nightmare" she said to herself leaving her bedroom to prepare for work.
At work Hilde found herself unable to concentrate was it because of the strange dream it was just a dream why was she so troubled?
"Are you listening to me?" her partner said. It was then she found out that she had been talking to her,
"Hum... what?" she asked.
"What is wrong with you today? You have been spacing out ever since you checked in". Helen who was her partner said looking concerned,
"Nothing I'll just get a cup of coffee" Hilde replied with a nervous chuckle.
She went to get coffee and just as she was about to drink it she saw women with coloured hair inside the cup. Startled, she dropped the cup spilling the contents which got her everyone's attention.
"Sorry" she mumbled apologetically before walking to her sit. Was she hallucinating? Because the things she started experiencing were strange. Sighing she picked up her bag and decided to take the rest of the day off claiming she was sick. Well, which wasn't entirely a lie or so she thought.
She went home to rest after going through some check up in the hospital. Night came after Hilde had spent the rest of the day tossing around.
Hilde decided before going to sleep that night that if she saw any of those creatures again she would try to talk to them.
In her dream she saw the same thing she witnessed the previous day only that this time one of them came to meet her. "What are you? Why did you suddenly start showing up" she asked the one who approached her
"We" the woman paused. "We've been with you since you were born. You just didn't realize it" she said. At this point, Hilde was dumbfounded she couldn't remember herself being accustomed to seeing such things like this. This woman was definitely wrong or maybe they got the wrong person.
"No, you guys are strangers I have never seen you before" Hilde answered with a scoff.
The woman closely observed her before a soft smile played on her lips.
"Strangers" she said testing the word
"Hmm...close strangers"
