Chapter 2: A Downcast Twist of Fate

She never knew, how possibly she made here. Who brought her in the strange premises of Asia. She only made this judgement about her whereabouts through the people coming to her room, bringing her daily requirements. She was being kept in a strange room full of Yayoi art. Those people looked more of Han origin with their accents native to Jomon ancestry.

All she could remember from her recent past was that she was being attacked by some mugger group in LA. One enjoyable starry night, when she was returning her apartment from work, someone hit her hind brain harder in the parking lot. She instantly fell prey to this heinous hit. They made her eyes blind folded, drugged her, kept her in esoteric travelling. Finally, when she was allowed to open her eyes to witness the surrounding, a chill of fright dominated her soul and body. She found herself among such people who belonged to different race, culture, ethnicity, continent and country. She felt an impulse of home sickness. She dived deeper and deeper into the sea of despair. In such populated Ichi, she felt alone, out of friends and out of love. She naturally thought of herself being a captive of these people. They were hospitable but incomprehensible. She didn't want to understand them but wanted to understand why she was on brink of grievances. The destruction of her personal liberty, the destruction of her self-esteem and destruction of her privacy made her look more pitiable. She felt like a mote of dust, a puppet in others 'hands. Do you know, how dispiriting it is to lose self-control, how painful it gets when other got to decide about your fate.

One such day, when she was lying down dorsally on the cold concrete floor of some giant empty room, the door opened. few ladies came to see her. They were dressed in traditional cardigan. Their trod, their dressing and their maneuver spoke of their familial highness and pride. All of them were bruiting in the native language. The way they spoke was easy enough to tell her that they were envious of her. Some of them might had tried to congratulate her on something. An impromptu question echoed in the minaret of her mind " for what thing they must be envious of her?" May be on her down trodden fate, her unannounced departure from her town or her uninformed happiness ,on what grounds these ladies were celebrating her? They were reverberant of how lucky she must be who got a chance to marry Hinata, but they were unable to see her deteriorating health and spirit. She, who kept on gushing down due to flashes of pain in her abdomen and sharp, pinching bursts of pain in her head, was at a brink of losing her intellect. she saw them speaking as if she were bonkers.

Those ladies analyzed her from head to feet and gossiped about something she couldn't comprehend. They were cachinnating while looking in her direction. She knew that she would be the ultimate topic of discussion for these ladies.

She hardly pulled herself out from the quagmire of pain and asked them "where am I?". those women suddenly stopped bandying about her and looked ridiculously surprised on utterance of few words from their new subject of discussion. As if they were assuming her a speechless, pitiable creature.

She managed to gather some strength and asked again: "where am I and what is this place?." Those ladies kept on gazing her in a mocking manner. Suddenly, they all broke into a laugh. A fleering at laugh, full of jest and satire. She knew she would never be honored by a reply. She saw them in helplessness. In the meantime, she saw a slim, sylphlike girl approaching her with silent gait. She saw her looking directly into her eyes. There was no expression in her eyes as she said "karma makes those suffer who had once played with the innocents. you must not feel sorry about yourself as this fate was coming your way anyhow." in the midst of this strange ,cold girl's commination she completely forgot the name "Hinata".
