Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Night Out

[Clarke Quay, Singapore]

It had been quite a while since Jackie last stepped into Zouk. It was years ago, she remembered when the “old Zouk” was still in Jiak Kim Street. It all came flashing back in her mind -- the party nights, cheap drinks at the quay bridge before the club opened, and her friends puking in the car park after closing time.

She was dressed pragmatically in a sharp but unfussy, black tank top and slim pants with matching accessories. She stepped out of her cab and checked the message again.

*Henry: Hi, Jackie. Change of venue. Zouk is packed. Go to Capital. Table booked.*

When Jackie got to the entrance of Capital, he was already there waiting for her. He glanced at his watch when he saw her -- she was late!

“Thank goodness, I wasn’t sure if you were going to turn up. Marjorie and her friend have joined us, too. Come on, let’s go, Jackie,” he said as he gestured for her to follow him up the stairs.

“Sorry, Henry. I had to clear some things first.”
