Chapter 144: My Youth

The most important thing that he took away from me was my innocence. Oh, I came back physically fine, but my heart was lost in a fire for revenge. I distanced myself from all my friends, my teachers and even my mother. Even as she needed me until only Delaney was left as he stubbornly stuck to me. 

But after a while, he too stopped trying to break down my walls. I knew he did this only so that I would stop pushing him away. And so I let him stay. The day he discovered that I was gathering evidence against Aulus, I could have killed him. Killed him for being so perceptive. For being able to see my wounds. But he did not pity me, just silently stood by my side, offering me support every step of the way.
