Chapter 112: Long Lost Friends
Amon ended his gaming session just in time as he noticed a black SUV drive into the driveway.
A woman steps out of the car and looks around. It's Barbara. She decided to come as Amon asked her to.
Amon watches with a bird-eye view as she walks up to Megan's house and rings the doorbell.
The door opens, and Megan is still in her office dress on the other side. She just got home a few minutes ago and didn't have the time to change.
Megan looks at Barbara and Barbara looks at Megan. Both have surprise written all over their face. "Megan?" "Barbara?" Both call out each other's names.
The two seem to know each other.
"Oh my god, It's been almost 19 years since I saw you," Megan says, immediately hugging Barbara. Barbara reciprocates the hug with a genuine smile on her face.
"I can't believe it either. Has it already been 19 years?" Barbara asks. "Indeed, it has. I thought I would never see you again after you suddenly disappeared," Megan says as she looks at her friend.
"Come in, just don't stand there," Megan invites Barbara in. Barbara hesitates a little as she is not here to meet Megan but to save her son's future with Amon's help. "What are you waiting for? Come in?" Megan invites her in once again.
Barbara nods her head and steps in. Megan guides her into the living room and asks her to sit down while she prepares something to drink for her.
Barbara sits down and starts looking around. She realizes that her friend seems to be doing very well for herself. The house is big and in a very posh area.
Megan returns with a few wine glasses and a bottle of wine and sits down next to her.
"How did you find me?" Megan asks as she opens the bottle and starts pouring the wine into the glasses.
"Well..." Barbara doesn't know what to say. "I actually came here to talk to my son's teacher... I didn't expect you to live here as well," Barbara clarifies.
"Oh... by teacher, do you mean Amon?" Megan asks. "Yes, do you know him?" Barbara inquires.
"Yes, he lives upstairs. But why would you come alone to your son's teacher's house?" As Megan asks this question, she immediately realizes why Barbara is here. The skimpy dress and seductive makeup on her face say it all.
Megan doesn't know what to feel right now. Barbara was a very close friend who she lost touch with 19 years ago and now she is suddenly here, not for her but for her lover, Amon.
Barbara's face starts to flush as she tries to come up with an excuse. "Well, my idiot son did something that could ruin his future. I came, you know... to fix it," Barbara says while adverting her gaze.
"What did he do?" Megan asks, now curious about the whole situation. "I don't wanna talk about it... Let's talk about you, look at you, even after so many years you still look so beautiful," Barbara decides to change the subject by pointing out Megan's beauty.
"Speak for yourself, you haven't lost a touch either," Megan answers back as she checks out Barbara's figure. Her big breasts, slim waist, and wide hips are really something to admire.
She can't help but feel a little jealous right now because Amon's attention will be on her tonight. Megan was hoping to spend some quality time with Amon, but it looks like he will be busy with Barbara tonight.
"What happened to you? You just dropped out of school and disappeared. You didn't even leave a message," Megan asks. "Well, my parents arranged a marriage for me to a rich man, and you know how I was back then. Always after money, so I saw the chance and took it," Barbara explains.
"But you were only 17 years old," Megan says, shocked. "That's why I disappeared. I didn't want people to know that I got married at 17 and that too to a man that was way older than me, plus it was one of his conditions," Barbara clarifies.
"Oh, my god!" Megan exclaims hearing Barbara's story, but she is not surprised. Back in the day, Barbara was always money-hungry as her parents were not well off, so she always tried to date rich guys, but they were only interested in fucking her.
"That's enough about me. How are you? From the looks of it, you are living well," Barbara says as she takes a sip of the expensive wine.
"Well... I got pregnant at 18 and immediately married right after," Megan says, embarrassed, as her story is not any better than her friends'.
"Shit..." Barbara is in shock at Megan's answer. Back when they were young, Megan was the perfect girl, innocent, hardworking, extremely beautiful, and a virgin. She never accepted any advance towards her from men, no matter how handsome or rich they were. So hearing that she got pregnant at 18 is a bombshell.
"Who got you pregnant?" Barbara asks. "Stewart..." Megan answers softly with a sigh.
"Scrawny Stewart???" Barbara questions loudly. Megan nods her head. "What? How? Why?" Barbara can't believe the most beautiful girl in school ends up with scrawny Stewart.
"Well, he was sweet, innocent, and different from all those guys that tried to hit on me, so I started dating him and soon after I got pregnant," Megan answers with a disappointing sigh.
"Why do you sound disappointed? From the looks of it, he made it. Though he was scrawny and ugly, he was at least smart," Barbara says.
"Well, after our daughter Rea was born, he threw himself into work. Work became the only thing he cared about. He was never present in Rea's life as she grew up. It was just me and her. Soon, this marriage became a chore for me. I also got busy with work and now I am stuck in a loveless marriage... What about you? Do you regret marrying your husband?" After explaining her situation, Megan asks Barbara if she is going through the same thing.
"I don't regret marrying my husband because my son was born from it, but as for being happy, no, I wasn't happy in it. My husband is also similar to yours, a workaholic," Barbara says with a sigh.
"Looks like we almost lived the same lives," Megan says and chuckles.
"We sure did," Barbara chuckles as well. It felt good talking to her long-lost friend. She even forgot why she came here.
