Jason raised his head and was pleased with her expression.
Such a hungry gaze was a compliment for a chef, signifying the excitement of a customer regarding his dishes.
"Take a seat. I'll done soon." Jason spoke while finishing the side dishes.
In a few minutes, he arranged the hotpot with all the side dishes on the dining table in a neat and organized manner.
In the meantime, Cha Hae-In continued to stare at his graceful figure working his magic into the kitchen, which only resulted in the inflation of her hunger.
Soon, the duo was sitting across from each other, enjoying the tasty dinner cooked by Jason.
"Can I ask you something?" Jason opened his mouth and asked.
"Okay," Cha Hae-In nodded her head.
"Why do you become a hunter?" Jason asked, "Don't take me wrong but you don't look like a person who is particularly interested in this field of work. I think you only became a hunter because you were awakened with the power of a S-rank. With your meticulous and caring personality, you feel burdened to become a hunter and protect the people."
Cha Hae-In listened to his words attentively and stopped eating, frozen in her spot.
Jason knew his words seemed offensive but he was really curious and couldn't help but ask for an answer.
Cha Hae-In took a few seconds before speaking. "You're right. Normally, it's the exact case just as you described. But... the reason for me to become a hunter is... You!"
"Me?" Jason was startled by her answer, pointing at himself with an unbelievable expression.
Cha Hae-In smiled and explained. "It's your selfless act of kindness that inspired me in the first place. Only you will help anyone who is in need without any selfish motives like you did with North Korea, Australia, and other countries that failed to close their gates in time, resulting in dungeon breaks... I clearly remember your speech regarding the value of a hunter..."
She put a hand on her chest and spoke some words. "'A hunter should be selfless and always think about the innocent people who are standing behind him. If the hunter takes a step back then what will become of those innocent lives.'"
Jason couldn't help but feel embarrassed by her speech.
"Don't tell me you join my guild with even such a low fee because of this..." He asked.
Cha Hae-In smiled, in a way admitting it.
Jason stared at her and sighed. "You know if not for your admiration for me, I might have mistaken it for love."
Cha Hae-In was startled, almost jumping up from her seat, her voice stuttering. "H-How... can it be possible? Hehehe... There is... nothing like this at all... I just.."
Jason smiled and raised his hand, signaling her to take a breath.
"Alright, alright, I get it. So... why do you like me?"
"But I..." Cha Hae-In was quick to decline, finding it hard to look straight at him.
Jason just smiled, speaking again. "Hahaha, I just had a hunch before but now I am a hundred percent sure. You are not good with hiding your emotions."
"I... I..."
'He knew! He knew! W-What should I do know?... Only Secretary Xiao knew it! How did he...'
While Cha Hae-In was panicking, Jason was chuckling at her.
'No wonder the girls are so forceful at me, going as far as to ask me to keep an eye on her.'
The next few minutes were very awkward for the strongest female hunter in Korea.
Finishing the dinner in silence, Jason cleaned the table and put the utensils into the dishwasher before joining her in the living room.
Cha Hae-In was sitting there like a child who was about to be punished for being naughty.
Hearing his footsteps, she flinched with her heart in panic.
"I... I just remember something... there is something urgent...'
She tried to slip away but her opponent had no intentions to let her escape.
Before she reached the stairs, her body was grabbed by an invisible power and forcibly brought back to the living room against her wishes.
"Sorry, but you can't leave." Jason's voice attracted her attention as she landed in his lap, directly into his arms.
"G-Guild Master, p-please... please don't make it difficult..." Cha Hae-In tried her best to protest and escape from his hands.
Jason ignored her words and gently moved her hair behind her ear, earning a blush.
"You can't just run away from it. You've to face it directly."
"But I..."
*Ssshhh*
Jason put a finger on her lips, silencing her. "No wonder the girls are so enthusiastic about you. Meticulous yet caring, Diligent and hard-working, and at the same time a pure heart. How about you want to go out with me?"
"Uh, b-but what about Secretary Xiao and..." Cha Hae-In felt her heart skipping a beat but she still spoke, consideration for others.
Jason took out his phone and dialed a number, signaling her to not speak.
- "Are you done so early, honey? So, how was it? Are you able to win her heart?"
"Nope. She can't take it, I mean, snatching the man of her friend."
- "Hehe, what a sweet girl~... See, I told you she is a nice girl. You better cherish her like us, okay?"
"So, you're teaching me now?"
- "Is she with you? Hey, cutey, didn't I tell you just go for it? I know you like him very much so don't let anything hold your heart and go for him. I already treat you as a real sister so it's alright to share him with you."
"But... but..." Cha Hae-In tried to say something but Jason cut her off.
"I'll speak with you later. Right now, I have to take care of her."
- "Okay, bye honey~... And please go easy on my sister."
Jason ended the call and threw the mobile on the table before sealing her cute lips with a kiss.
Cha Hae-In was taken aback by the sudden kiss, her mind went off, frozen in shock.
Jason gently kissed her while wrapping his arms around her waist. He was careful to not feel rushed and forceful while also expressing his feelings.
'What?... Why?... When?... How?...'
By the time, her senses returned, the number of questions flooded her small mind.
The duo separated and Cha Hae-In stared into his eyes deeply, their eyes locked with each other with their faces reflecting into them.
Jason tenderly caressed her cheek, feeling the warmth and softness of her skin.
"Now, I have given you my answer and I hope you will consider it ca-"
His words were cut off by the sudden sealing of his mouth by someone. Opening his eyes, he gazed into the lovely eyes of the bob-cut blonde girl.
"Khuusst Sshapp spp *slurp* uund teek mm."
Jason didn't understand a word of what she said but he was sure of at least one thing.
She didn't want to stop!
So, he tightened his embrace and pulled her close to him as he continued to kiss her.
