But Elias didn't answer him and he started right away to make his way to this seal and to do so he had to use the golden flames of his aura which were the only flames powerful enough to dissolve the aura of a God.

To reach this seal, he had to create an opening through the defense barrier that a God's aura automatically created around his body and the more powerful the God, the stronger his aura was, and therefore it was even more painful to dissolve it to create a small opening in it.
