Chapter 268: Chapter (Two Hundred) Sixty Seven: Luka

Navaya led Johnny by hand into her spare bedroom. He followed quietly, not wanting to interrupt as her sweet melodious voice filled the space. She looked animated as she gesticulated with her free hand as she spoke. Johnny couldn't keep his eyes off her throughout the walk up the stairs, awe and amusement dancing in their depths. This was the most relaxed she had ever been around him in years.

They got to the door and without letting go of his hand, she turned the knob. The door swung open and she tugged him inside. She still hadn't let go of his hand. Johnny's gaze would focus on the contact from time to time, as though to reassure himself that it was really her. She was purposely touching him. She still hadn't said anything about how he froze up upon seeing the storm or even asked questions about it. He knew he would have to tell her about it someday, bare open his chest with his heart bleeding out to her. Not now, not while he relished this small connection she allowed.
