Chapter 36: Discovery

Willow had absolutely no idea what to say at that resolution, I mean what could she say, the humans already knew of the impending battle.

Also, it wasn't like Willow could argue with my beliefs, because she knew that once she surpassed level 100 she too would be free.

Thus, Willow was forced to accept as our short conversation came to a close.

Seeing the determination that was now sparkling in Willow's eyes I explained the plan, "I know the rough layout of the bases and fortresses due to a map I managed to get a glimpse of when I first arrived here. However, I'm sure you have a much better understanding of the layout so give me a simple but quick summary."

Willow nodded her head as she began, "Currently we are quite far from any of the human settlements, we have been marching in the beast's territory for days. But that won't make any difference since we can get back to the human side in no time."

'That's true I could cover much of the planet in seconds before, I bet I could reach the main base in a single second,' I theorized in my mind as I wondered just how much faster I've become.

"After we get back there are six main fortresses that if destroyed will put an end to the human's offense. Two are training camps for recruits, many young soldiers join the war so these facilities are used to train them. Without them, no new forces will be able to join the fight in the long run. However, they are the two strongest builds to infiltrate let alone destroy. The reason being is that it's full of commanding officers and veterans who are very strong."

"How many officers do you expect to be there and what are their estimated levels?" I questioned not really thinking that it would be much of a problem.

Willow paused for a second before answering, "I would guess there are around one hundred trained veterans around level 60-70 and twenty or so commanders who are in the lower eighties. But there will also be the principal whose level I could only assume to be around ninety."

This didn't worry all that much, anyone under level 80 shouldn't even be able to hurt me so that takes care of most of the difficulties. The only problem is the principal that Willow was talking about.

Although that person has yet to unlock essence they probably have decades of more experience than me.

But even then it shouldn't matter, I won't let a stronger ant make me fearful.

"What about the other four bases?" I questioned after hearing all I needed to hear about the training camps.

Upon hearing my question Willow believed that I was giving up on the idea of destroying the camps since I didn't reveal anything that I was thinking.

But she couldn't be any more wrong because I didn't even consider that place to be a challenge.

"One is a weapons and armor factory, it is by far the weakest of all of them as the humans rely on their abilities rather than weapons but the new generation who have yet to become a custom with their power use the resources that the factory makes."

"It will barely be guarded and won't even be an issue for me to destroy but by doing so it will drastically decrease the number of enemies that will try to attack us even if they are under level 20."

'That makes sense,' I concluded in my mind even though those fighters will not even be able to scratch me. Dealing with thousands of them will be annoying nonetheless.

"And the other three?" I ask after understanding everything about the factory.

Willow gives a slight frown before talking about the others, "They are unique because they are a sort of… concentration camp."

This surprised me greatly as my eyebrows rose to show some emotion that Willow picked up on.

"You see, the king here has a special ability, when people believe him to be the most important thing in their heart he gets benefits from their actions." Willow took a sharp breath before continuing, "however, I recently learned that he also gets benefits when people die believing in him."

"That's why he has these three camps, in them, orphans from parents who died in the war are sent there where they are forcefully indoctrinated that the king is a god and that nothing else is important. They then go out to fight in the war, gain achievements, and die but not before leaving children behind. This process repeats indefinitely while the king is the only one to benefit."

Once Willow concluded she grew a grim expression as sorrow filled her face.

This lasted a few moments in real-time but in my mind, I was thinking hundreds of thoughts a second as I connected all the information I got from Willow to finally reach a conclusion.

'Willow was probably the daughter of warriors who died in the war and was sent to one of these camps. There she probably got cursed and became a slave of the king's desires and achieved many feats which allowed her to have an audience with him where she then attached herself to him.'

'After that, she somehow broke free from the king or she was thrown away where I ended up finding her.'

'She probably wants revenge, but it seems that she is also affected by my desires because now her soul health is at 9%.'

'She likely wanted to be killed by me before her soul was destroyed which would turn her into a puppet but now that she has seen my power she might think that if she can reach level 100 she can break free from the curse.'

'But there is just one thing that she is overlooking, and that is that I won't allow her to achieve the freedom she so desperately wants.'
