Chapter 71: [Ch. 71] In Sickness and in Health (Past)

Faceless individuals rushed forward with their blades raised to attack.

Raylon fought off their attacks, realizing he was slowly being pushed back. He was standing on the fallen corpses, completely drenched by their blood. He no longer recognized friend nor foe. He felt his body weaken as he fought off their advances.

He wanted to give up. 

Suddenly, the onslaught of people slowed as an eerily comforting song reverberated through the air.

The faceless attackers evaporated leaving nothing behind. He dropped his blade as he stared off into space in a trance. His feet started marching towards the voice by themselves.

It was almost as if he was being called by a siren.

The humming voice was calming as it sang the creepy yet beautiful melody.

Raylon slowly opened his eyes as he woke up from his dream. He noticed the flickering of a fire on the cave wall. His head slowly turned towards the sound of the melody.
