Chapter 18: Parents

Author: Alright guys… I might've procrastinated a little… I kind of fixed the story (the fanfic, not the canon, although the cannon is gonna change anyway…) like in the first 10 days, but I just didn't feel like writing again so I just started to do something else and that something happened to be reading more manga…

I was listening to some openings and found Black Hearts & Dollar Sign which was an opening that brought me a lot of nostalgia out of nowhere, like, the nostalgia hit me like a god damn truck so I said "fuck it" and started to read Deadman Wonderland again.

So what I want to say is that I will make something about Deadman Wonderland later on, but I won't be doing it at the same time while also writing this fanfic since I don't have that much time to spend in writing lately.

In the early morning in front of Fujitani Hospital, a man with dry eyes in a black jumpsuit could be seen at the entrance of the building.

That man is Aizawa, or more likely known as the hero Ereaserhead, although he is barely known actually…

Anyway, since Shiro is under his supervision, he has to be there the moment his parents take him away and make sure that he is safe.

'Seems that his parents want to deal with this quickly, the detective just gave them a notice and they responded in seconds.' Aizawa contemplated as he saw the parents' info from his phone.

After he read more about Shiro's parents, the more he began to understand the reason why they traveled so much. 'His mother has to travel a lot due to work and his father helps her with deals and negotiations, he is pretty much the secretary… Quite normal really, but the thing is that the business trips increased after Shiro disappeared, it could be that they wanted to occupy themselves with work, or they were looking for him.'

*Sigh~*

'Not my business, if there is no evidence or suspicion of villainy acts, then there's no reason to really care ab-' Aizawas train of thought was interrupted by a car's arrival.

*Screeech*

The car was black and had tinted windows, one could tell that it was also a reinforced vehicle.

Two people came from the back seats, it was a man and a woman.

The man with white hair combed backward in a black business suit, his expression was serious, and had sharp eyes, his glare was as if he could see through people's words.

As for the woman, she had a white scarf covering her hair leaving only some bangs covering her forehead, she wore white button shirt and black pants, it was more casual wear but not unprofessional. She had a calm expression but it wasn't relaxed in any way, it was more of an unreadable expression, as if you were unable to see through the perfectly still water of a lake.

'...an interesting pair to be honest…' Aizawa mused as he analyzed the people in front of him. "Follow me." He said plainly, they didn't really look like they wanted to have some chit-chat.

And so, they both followed Aizawa.

The hero went through the reception desk and after confirming their visit, then they took the elevator to the upper floor.

Someone might think of the elevator ride as awkward since no one spoke a single word or even tried to, but in reality, Aizawa was relieved as he didn't want to have an unnecessary conversation which seemed to be the same for Shiro's parents.

Once they arrived at the upper floor, he guided both of them to the room where Shiro was staying. The hospital was big so they went past many rooms.

Aizawa couldn't help but notice that the pair following him stopped for a moment, when he turned around to see what happened, he could see that their expressions faltered for a little, they were seemingly confused about something.

But it didn't last long and kept walking, the hero who guided them just shrugged the whole thing off and kept on to where their son was.

Once Aizawa got in front of the door, he heard some bedsheets wiggling inside the room, when he opened the door, he saw Shiro sitting up on his bed…

He was trembling like a theater kid who forgot his lines on the stage.

The villainous hero smirked a little when he saw the mess that Shiro was, and of course, he earned a glare from the latter.

< Shiro Takeshi (MC) POV >

"Today is the day!" I said to myself out loud while sitting on the hospital bed.

I tried to keep studying about heroes and what not but I couldn't concentrate knowing that my parents would be entering through the door at any moment.

So after leaving the laptop and phone to the side, I've been trying to imagine some kind of scenario of how things could go… but for some reason, I couldn't come up with anything.

*Breath in*

Do I just call for their names? Just say Mom and Dad? What will I say after that? What will their reaction be? What will they say to me after such a long time?

'No, What if they don't even recognize me?... Maybe they even forgot about me…'

*Breath out*

I couldn't even come to a conclusion, 'I will know when I see them,' was all I could tell myself.

'Should I greet them in front of the door?' I thought while I tried to get off the bed until-

*tap tap tap tap*

I heard steps outside of my room. I almost fell face first on the ground but I held on the bed sheets to not fall and decided to just stay on bed.

I looked at my hands and they just wouldn't stay still. It was frustrating that suddenly, I couldn't have proper control over a body that I trained to the point of passing out many times.

'Damn it, why am I feeling this nervous now? I can keep calm while held at gunpoint, hell! I get excited in do or die situations now, SO WHY AM I THIS MUCH OF A MESS NOW?!?!?!'

*creak*

My heart skipped a beat when I heard the door opening, my head snapped back towards the entrance of my room only to see Aizawa looking at me… with a smirk

'...that dry eyes bastard…'

Although once he glanced behind him, I could hear my heart pounding loudly inside my head, I felt my hands getting sweaty.

'They are right there!' I tried to calm down only to miserably fail.

I gripped the bedsheets that covered my legs as I couldn't find anything to do but to just wait. I wanted to stop my body's shaking in any way I could.

*tap tap tap*

I heard steps and finally saw someone come in, it was my… Dad.

He was in a black business suit and even his hair was combed backwards. I could smell a strong cologne from him, but it wasn't unpleasant, I began to hear my own heartbeat getting louder as our eyes met.

He froze in place, his sharp eyes grew wide as if they were about to pop out of his skull.

The both of us just stayed silent looking at each other, he was frozen in place while I was trembling in mine.

*tap tap tap*

I heard more steps, it wasn't hard to figure out who it was, it was my mother, casual wear but not unprofessional, both came as if they were talking about business…

A floral like smell came from her, it was refreshing actually, it didn't smell artificial at all.

And just like Dad, she forze the moment she saw me.

Before this, I had many questions about what to say for this exact moment, but now, I just wanted to say 2 words.

I tried to open my mouth, it was hard, almost impossible for some reason, as if the words were stuck in my throat, unable to come out.

'Just say it, they are in front of you right now, JUST SAY IT!!!'

My vision got a bit blurry as tears were about to come out, but I held them back, with all the strength I had, I managed to open my mouth properly and-

"....m.o.m….d.a.d…." I tried to speak out loud but it only came off as a whisper, it was something that someone would barely be able to hear, but they somehow could listen to it without problems.

I could see a lot of emotions through their faces.

Confusion, Realization, Relief, Joy, Happiness and…

*thud*

'…. HUH?!...'

Mom just slumped on the ground… and stayed there, completely still...

"...I-Ishimoto!?..." Dad crouched over to see Mom's condition as I tried with all my strength to call for them again. "...d.a.d…" which made him look at me again and-

*thud*

… His eyes rolled back and fell on the floor motionlessly like Mom…

I just looked at them, unable to process what happened.

Meanwhile, Aizawa just looked at the whole scene with a blank expression.

...

[1 Hour Later]

Shiro and his parents were transported to a bigger room for the 3 of them.

"So it's just some kind of psychological shock?" Shiro asks the nurse for the 10th time.

"Yes, they will be fine, there is no need for surgery or anything…" the nurse answered with a helpless tone while she was cutting an apple for the kid.

And it wasn't just them in the room, Aizawa was also in there, although he was napping…. No one knows where he got the sleeping bag from but they didn't bother him.

Although the whole situation led to this unexpected result, Shiro didn't feel that bad, he was just glad that he was recognized despite his changes.

Shoulder length hair, eyes with a weird white light in them, and completely bandaged body. Despite not looking like he used to, his parents still saw him as their child.

With such thoughts, Shiro enjoyed some cut apples from the nurse who was patiently waiting for him to ask again about his parents until…

*thud*

They heard someone fall…

...again...

They both turned over and noticed that it was Tsuchiya (Dad), he was in a position that looked as if he tried to get off the bed and ended up falling because he couldn't stand up properly.

He just looked at both of them… more like he was staring only at Shiro.

"D-d-da-mhmh!" Shiro tried to say something but Tsuchiya just ran up to him and hugged him without any warning.

The nurse who saw this decided to just leave the room as quietly as she could.

Aizawa, who was in his sleeping bag, also left the room following the nurse, but the thing is… he didn't get out of the sleeping bag.

He really wriggled his way outside the room like a worm…

Now only the family was left in the room, Ishimoto (Mom) was still sleeping, but that didn't last long- *thud* -because the same scene happened…

Both parents held Shiro as if they would never let go as if he might disappear again if they didn't get a hold of him.

After a few moments, Tsuchiya said with a serious tone, "don't let him go," at Ishimoto who in response gave him a stern nod.

After that, he went outside the room to talk with Aizawa.

"Umm… Mom?" Shiro said with some uncertainty to which she quickly answered, "You don't have to tell us what happened, you are already with us, that's enough." and she hugged him tighter.

Warmth.

That was the word that came to his mind the moment he heard her tone and felt her touch. Shiro somehow felt like a weight was lifted from my heart…

...

Meanwhile, with Tsuchiya and Aizawa.

Tsuchiya got outside the room and saw Aizawa leaning on the wall, his sleeping bag was nowhere to be seen now...

"You can take him right away if you want." Said the hero with a tired tone towards the parent.

"I see," Tsuchiya responded, although his hair was a bit of a mess now, he still held a professional image.

"I assume that you had held some kind of psychological test to see if his mental state is stable, right?" He said with a sharp glare.

"I can personally say that he is stable, now, if you want to see the tests that he has taken, you'll have to wait for the detective who contacted you to inform you of such things," he sighed, "the same goes for his case… well, more like 'cases' now."

The last statement made Tsuchiya raise his eyebrow in a questionable manner, but he didn't push further. "Then we will take him home now." He spoke waiting for a response from the hero, Aizawa gave him a nod of acknowledgment so Tsuchiya went back inside the room.

What he was Shiro in Ishimoto's arms, he seemed to be in a peaceful sleep. With a bright smile, she just puts a finger on her lips signaling to her husband to not make any noise.

Author: Hope I did it right, I didn't want to make it too cringy because… I mean, you look for your kid for 5 years and he suddenly appears in your home again (not really at home but you know what I mean.) you wouldn't be like, "oh, there he is," and just roll with it, would you?
