Chapter 27: All In Good Time
"I need some help." He said scratching his nose as the small lie left his mouth.
He wanted to create an opportunity to get to know her, to court her. Cass had suggested giving her a job. But that would mean he would have to work long hours along with her and he could never entertain her working late nights, even if it was with him.
He had done the corporate world for many years and it brought out the demon side of him more than his human nature. He could be ruthless at a drop of a dime and he didn't want her to see it if it was possible.
No the CEO position was more or less Cass's department, he only stepped in when absolutely necessary.
It was only as he glanced around his cold faceless office that he realised. He had no home. No home to offer her, no refuge to return to should she need it. Yes, she lived with Cass but this he knew was only temporary.
He sat back, his face turned serious, "I am looking for a home, at the moment I basically live here. I wish to settle down and grow some roots." He had a mansion not too far from Cass and Oriana. Oriana had insisted he buy a home near them years ago and now he was thankful that she had made him do so.
Selena smiled, "I see, though I am not sure how I can help."
"Well as you can see I need a decorator. I am useless." He smiled as he directed her to look around his office.
Selena took in his office it was dark, cold and impersonal. It was probably like most CEO's offices she mused. She nodded in silent agreement, "I am not an interior decorator though."
Xavier turned to her, "Please."
Selena was taken a back, how could she refuse. Xavier was handsome and beyond charismatic. He had deep dark eyes, like ink wells. The silver around his pupils reminded her of stars that may shine and shoot across a dark galaxy.
She thought he was indeed diabolical.
Selena gave in, "Okay. I can take a look and also you are doing me a favour. I was not looking forward to job hunting this afternoon. The constant walking in the heat… Sorry I am blabbing again."
"Don't be sorry, I love your voice and you're babbling. We can eat and then how about I show you're our home." Xavier smiled and continued eating. He was very content, he had her company all afternoon now.
While they ate Selena asked him about his preferences in food for making his lunches, turned out he wasn't picky.
Little did she know Xavier was very picky with what he ate, he just would eat anything willingly if it was made by his angel.
Selena had then steered the conversation to his home and what colours and vibe he preferred again she was stumped. This man was so amiable he only wanted her opinion and didn't seem to care for his own.
Xavier enjoyed chatting with her and was indeed diabolical, he had no opinion on their home only that when she is ready they will move in their together. He wanted her stamp on their home and all he cared about is that she would be happy living with him. So it had to suit her tastes more than his.
They finished lunch and cleared away the coffee table.
Selena stood looking for a bin with her empty cola tin in her hand.
Xavier walked around his large mahogany table and she followed, it was only then she notice a giant red velvet pillow on the floor. Golden embroidered letters stood out.
"Raziel?" Selena put two and two together and realised how silly she was. Maybe her little Rai had followed Cass home one day.
Xavier nodded, "Yes Raziel or Rai is my… pet." He smiled knowing that rai would hate to be called a pet.
"I brought him here the other day, to bring him back to his owner. Who knew he was yours and I have been sleeping with him." Selena threw away her empty can and missed Xavier's smile turn into a frown as she walked to get her bag on the leather sofa.
Xavier frowned he knew the traitorous familiar was with his love but the jealousy at her words threw him off for a moment. He collected his thoughts and joined her as they left his office. As they rode down to the parking garage together he concluded that Rai was protecting her at night only for a short time until he could bring her home… to their home.

The lift doors opened to the dark underground parking garage. He didn't drive often as all he had to do was cast a small spell and he could arrive anywhere he wanted. But it was maybe too soon to show her who he really was.
All in good time he mused, one victory at a time.
He walked her towards his black Aston Martin Victor and opened the passenger door for her.
Selena marvelled at the car, not that she knew anything about cars but she recognised how expensive this car was. It was a sleek two seater car.
Realising she was staring she smiled up at Xavier and got inside the car. When he got in beside her heart raced and she scolded herself. Why did she end up like this? Any other man she would refuse and send him on his way.
