Kitty!

Selena picked up all the items on Oriana's list and got a few bits and pieces for herself. Leaving in such a hurry she had no idea what she had left and what she had taken. But after getting to Oriana's she realised she had left quiet a lot behind.

She hoped Xavier didn't mind her walking up and down the isles as she picked up her preferred products. He didn't seem to though he looked calm. Her ex would have never went shopping with her and if he had off he would have rushed her and huffed with a bored expression.

"That's us." Selena announced and she ducked under his arms and they headed for the check out.

Xavier nodded and she saw the ghost of a smile on his face. She now saw him in a new light.

Xavier was elated with her casual use of the word us. He hoped he wouldn't mess it up, he couldn't bear to not have her in his life now he had found her.

They checked out and Xavier not only packed up the bags, he had used his card to pay. She didn't need him to pay but she didn't want to argue in the middle of the supermarket. He had made the argument that he had owed Cass and Oriana and this was nothing.

Selena didn't protest any further but she thought of ways to pay him back. "I will owe you dinner then."

She had thought he may return to Cass and Oriana's with her and she would make dinner for the four of them. But his next words took her back.

"I eat lunch at my office at twelve." Xavier said as he lifted the bags with ease and walked out of the supermarket.

Selena caught up with him and enquired, "But this is Sunday, surely you don't work on a Sunday."

"I don't." Xavier answered. "I do though throughout the week." He added with a smirk.

Selena glanced up at him, he did have a very handsome profile and when he smiled she felt that she was blinded by it. She waited for him to continue but when he didn't she asked, "You want me to bring you lunch every day this week?"

Xavier continued to smirk, "That sounds like a great idea."

"Wait it wasn't my idea." Selena tried to protest but she realised she wouldn't actually mind doing it. She would have to go into the City to hunt for a new job anyway so why not bring him lunch.

"Okay then, is there anything you like to eat?" She asked as they stopped at a set of lights.

Xavier thought about it he had no preference in food but he did want to eat her, but that delicacy would have to wait. He was overwhelmed by her scent and presence so he took a deep breath a stared at the lights, he didn't want her to see his eyes change colour. How could he explain that his eyes turned black when lust filled his senses and glowed red when he was angry.

"Ahh kitty!" The lights hadn't changed colour but a cat ran passed her legs and made a break for the road. Instinct took over and Selena rushed out to grab the kitten before a large truck could hit them both.

Xavier's body shook in fear he dumped the shopping and rushed to her, he scooped her up as she held the cat to her body. They were now on the other side of the road and the truck sped away. Echoes of the driver swearing at them both for getting in his way.

Selena was shaken she only now realised that she wouldn't have made it across the dangerous road if it wasn't for Xavier. He held her tight, his muscles tight, she felt his heart race against her chest. She tried to break away from his hold to see his face but his arms where locked in place.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think." Selena whispered, she felt he was afraid of losing her but as they had just met she didn't know why it would affect him. She felt slightly foolish for running out onto the road and making him worry so.

She knew Xavier had heard her word of apology as he released her. But not fully he still held her as he checked over her body.

"I'm okay, what about you? You shielded me." Selena pulled away and Xavier let her go this time, she set the cat down and she watched as it ran away and continued on its journey. They had been huddled at the side of the road so Xavier stood and held out his hand to help her up.

"Please..." He struggled to get the words out, "Please don't do that again, you are too precious to me." Xavier said as he held her cheek in his warm palm.

She was about to protest and ask what his words meant but seeing him look at her like she was his whole world made her hold back. Maybe she didn't want to know she thought. That gaze captivated her and she knew at that moment that she never wanted to make him make that face again. She nodded her head and saw him sigh in relief.

Xavier then took her small hand and they safely walked back across the road, the only sound was her racing heart and the beeping of the cross road.
