It was now the year 2020 after the battle demons had all but died out and magical creatures like Xavier became folklore and stories used to scare young children before bed.
Over a thousand years had passed since he had lost his love and Xavier had just existed; it wasn't living. How could he live without his love?
Xavier lay on the black leather couch in his office resting his eyes, his long legs lay on the arms of the couch. He was now a CEO of a large company, it was tedious but it was something to do to pass the years.
He never appeared in front of the public. He allowed his friend Cass, short for Cassian to be the face of the company.
Cass was a witch and they had guided each other through the twists and turns of life as humans evolved and their own kind had diminished.
Xavier knew Cass for over fifty years and now Cass had a head of white hair now but when they had first met Cass was a young man that had just graduated college, he had long blonde hair back then and liked to skip his classes. He was now a nine to five businessman.
Cass was an idealist and wanted to be an apothecary as his passion was being a witch but Xavier took him under his wing and gave him the opportunity to learn the business from him. His apothecary business had flopped as no one believed in witchcraft anymore.
At the time Xavier had a thriving business but he wanted to stay out of the limelight. It was the perfect partnership, Cass loved the limelight and Xavier preferred to remain anonymous.
At that moment Cass came rushing into Xavier's office disturbing his peace with papers in his hand he was waving them high in the air frantically in Xavier's direction.
Raziel was curled up on a large red dog bed, he opened one eye but then quickly ignored his presence. Raziel's original form was now much different than the dog form he now chooses to use as a cloak. They were all in hiding. Humans didn't believe in them anymore and it let them live a peaceful life.
Any time that a witch or a demon showed themselves they would be hunted down and killed or at least that was what happened in the early sixteen hundred's.
Life was quiet except for Cass's occasional outburst. Xavier was used to his behaviour and so he ignored his friend and kept his eyes closed.
Cass sat opposite his friend and laid out the newspapers on the coffee table in front of him, he was excited. He lit the candles that sat on the coffee table and started an incantation.
Xavier realised that Cass wasn't going to leave so he opened his eyes and glared at him, the whispered spell was disturbing his peace.
Cass noticed Xavier's frown and he gulped before saying, "Sorry I am done with my incantation. Xavier, I have finally found her, look at this newspaper." He tried to show the news to Xavier.
Xavier didn't care for human news so he closed his eyes again. In his dreams, he could see her.
Recently he had been feeling uneasy. He had spent over a thousand years in grief and yearning for his love. But recently he had been having dreams of a young girl, he was able to visit her in her dreams, she resembled his love.
When she slept he found peace as he could see her again, he would feel alive during those moments.
When she slept he was able to end time with her. He closed his eyes hoping to see her, she seemed to never sleep or sleep at odd times.
So he would try and seek her out. He didn't know why he had the urge to visit her in her dreams or seek her out during the day. But he couldn't find her, was she even real he wondered.
Cass huffed at his friend, "You will want to see this." Cass practically jumped over the coffee table and pushed the papers in front of Xavier.
Xavier did not stir, he was a greater demon and a weak human body witch or not couldn't hurt him.
"Is this her?" Cass shouted at his friend.
Cass had always seen his friend tormented and Xavier had once described his love to him, Cass remembered every detail he told him and when he saw a model on the front page of the newspaper he dashed out of his home and straight to Xavier. He hoped his friend would find love again.
Demons did not reincarnate but Cass was sure if the soul was good enough they would return to relive a life they had not got the chance to experience, it was called a twin soul.
A twin soul connection mirrored one another, they would reincarnate until they found each other. He had told Xavier this over the years, but Xavier never showed any interest in his theory.
Xavier's silver eyes opened and he glanced at the newspaper. He was curious but didn't believe it could be her. He quickly closed his eyes with a hint of slight disappointment on his face.
Cass sat back and took the newspapers back, "Sorry my bad. I was so sure this time."
"Enough. No more." Xavier said, his tone firm and low.
Cass nodded he understood that he had upset his friend. "I won't do this again. Even if I think that I am one hundred per cent certain that it's her."
Cass glanced at Raziel who seemed to roll his eyes at him. He took the hint and excused himself as he left the office.
Xavier sat up he glanced at the closed door before he then used an incantation. With his demon powers, he was suddenly on top of his companies roof that overlooked the whole City.
The wind blew his long black coat, his tall body stood over the City, the sun was high and he cast a long shadow. He looked slim but he had a soldiers body, ready for war. Though he would never fight again as he felt nothing now. There was no Xavier after her loss.
On the roof, he was searching for the girl from his dreams.
He wondered why she never seemed to sleep or if she did it wasn't for long periods. He didn't know why his mind drifted to her. What was she to him? Why did his mind drift to her throughout the day and night he wondered.
