Chapter 89: A friend to talk to

"Did Liam find out?" Jack asked in a soft voice.

Oliver didn't know the exact answer to give because Liam hadn't acted like he knew something, nor did he act like he didn't know anything.

"Hey?" Jack said gently. "You can talk to me if you wish. I am ready to listen for as long as you want to talk." 

Oliver lifted his head to look at Jack, wondering why the boy was so nice to him. This wasn't only because he had saved Jack's dog, right? He remembered he hadn't seen the dog around, but that was the least of his worries now.

"Why are you nice to me?" He decided to ask Jack. 

Jack's lips curled into a small smile. "Aside from the fact that you are very good looking, you remind me of my past self." 

"Your past self?" 

Jack nodded. "That is why I am willing to do anything to help you. I don't like to see sadness in those beautiful eyes of yours. You deserve better."
