Chapter 2: System
Finally! I was hoping I would get a cheat like this. After reading countless novels, my favorite would probably be system novels. Although, my favorite ones are having the MC be Evil or having an Evil alignment. Don't get me wrong main characters that do good are fine, but if the fastest way to level up is killing things, why don't you just kill whoever you want. It irked me that they would whine about not being overpowered when all they had to do was be a little more ruthless. Anyways, getting that out of the way. I thought, 'System, what are your functions, and are you sentient?'
[Replying to host, the system has 3 main functions.]
[First, the system has a limitless inventory. Second, the system allows you to see a page that shows the skills/traits you have and the species you currently are. The last function is called fusion. This allows you to fuse skills or traits. The skills or traits the host fuses make them evolve into a higher form making them more powerful.]
[To answer host's second question, the system does not and will never gain sentience. The system is only a tool for the host to gain more power.]
This system is really good. It not only allows me to endlessly gain more power, it also never gains sentience. I can rest easy knowing it won't betray me. Now lets see what my stat page looks like. 'System, open my status page,' I thought.

As I look at the traits and skills I have, I end up getting excited because from they already sound like extremely powerful skills. So, I ask the system, 'System, what does the trait, Endless Evolving Body, do?'
[Replying to host, the trait 'Endless Evolving Body' allows the host to endlessly refine their body with the energy gained from food making it stronger and larger. With this trait the host could gain the strength to end a universe with a breath and grow to be bigger than a universe]
Ha... Haha. BWHAHAHA! This is such an amazing trait, just this alone could make me the most powerful with a little time! If the trait is this amazing, what about the skill? I say in my head, 'System, what does the skill, Devour, do?'
[Replying to host, the skill 'Devour' allows the host to devour anything as long as there is room in the host's stomach. The bigger or more advanced the object is, the more energy is gained. On the other hand the more an organism is a threat to you, the more energy the host gains. For example Dirt gives less energy than a mouse, a mouse gives less than a crocodile. Or, an asteroid gives less energy than a planet, a planet gives less energy than a star. As the host gets stronger the animals or objects eaten before can still give energy, however, it is meager compared to eating something your own size or power.]
[Another feature of the skill 'Devour' is the ability to "Devour" a skill or trait that the organism had. The host has the option to either "Devour" the skill/trait, or the host can reject it if you already have it.]
Another powerful ability, just how I like it. Now that I know my abilities, I can start to test them out. So, I climb out of my hole and checked to see what time of day it is. I looked up and saw the sun high up in the sky, so I assume that it is around noon. After checking the time of day I try out the ability 'Devour' to see how it works. I start to eat the dirt that is around my home. As I eat it, I start to fell myself growing and getting stronger, however, it was so meager that, from the human eye, I still look the same even after eating dirt until I was full. It was the same with my strength. I could feel it increasing, but it was so meager, I barely felt any change from before.
That was really a waste of time. Now I have to wait for the dirt to digest so I can test out eating some animals. So, I waited a couple hours for it all to digest, and when it did I started to slither around to find myself some prey.
As I went around eating some small prey I felt my strength increasing. I ate three mice families and when I was on my fourth family I could already kill them with a flick of my tail. It is much more efficient now that I don't have to spend time on constricting around them. My size also increased to 1.5 meters in length and 17 centimeters in girth.
By the time I finished eating it was already night, so I went back to my home to digest the latest family I ate. Next time I go out to hunt I will have to find some other animals to eat because I probably ate most of the mice in my little area of the forest. After thinking about my plans for the next day, I coiled around myself and fell asleep.

OP_NovelAddict Second chapter finished! I hope you like what I did with the system. I'll probably speed up the pace a bit so he can go to other worlds. Finally, feel free to add paragraph comments if you find any grammar mistakes and I'll do my best to fix them. You can also suggest some ideas for the story in the chapter comments.
