Chapter 74: Back home

I opened my eyes to discover that the world around me was but a caricature of what it was.

Both the sky and the earth looked like a rough sketch done on a canvas. Everything was made of lines and filled with white mist…

And in the middle of that strange, picturesque world, were Priscilla, Arthur, and Aramis. The latter two were also like caricatures without color, and yet, their arms were waving at me, wide, happy smiles adorning their faces.

“Good luck my lord!”

“Thank you for your blessings, and for being with us!”

Their shouts were faint even to my enhanced ears.

I smiled at them and waved before my eyes were dragged by the only person that was still full of color.

“Good luck, my αγαπημένος. I will see you soon!”

The strange word gave me pause. I did not know what language it was, but it was nothing like I had ever heard before. Perhaps she had spoken in her mother tongue?
