Chapter 30: About Aaron

The Mid-Semester Exam has just ended, it doesn't feel like Mai is already in her first half of the semester. And to be honest she's still kind of dazed. She didn't even finish her worksheet in yesterday's exam. Luckily, the lecturer said that an unfinished worksheet would still be graded, although of course, it wasn't a perfect score. Mai felt dissatisfied and the feeling of taking the wrong major began to creep into her mind.

In high school, Mai's Social and Natural Sciences scores were equally good. Her homeroom teacher suggested Mai go to science class and Mai obeyed. Most social studies classes are filled with popular children and Mai feels uncomfortable about it.

She, Nica, and Eddo chose the science class while Ivani and Thomas took the social studies class. When she graduated and enrolled in college, Mai was immediately confused about what major to choose. She likes science, and to be honest she prefers Biology to Chemistry or Physics.

Based on that love, Mai can choose biology, medical, fisheries, animal husbandry, forestry majors. But there is no major that interests her and Mai is not likely to take a medical major because she has a phobia of blood. So Mai also swerved to choose accounting majors, yes she also quite liked accounting first but when she studied it in college, it seemed she had to repeat everything from scratch.

Maybe Thomas can help her, she can stay close to Thomas. Thomas helped her study. Learn nothing else although on some occasions Mai likes to lose her focus. It's hard to control yourself when you're around people you like. Heart palpitations, cold sweats, nervousness, stuff like that but Thomas still treats her as a friend, nothing more.

Thomas told of his meeting with Linda yesterday. Happiness is because Linda decided to stay in Indonesia after so long wandering in France.

Mai couldn't bear to hear it but she had to pretend to be happy in front of Thomas to keep the man's feelings.

Keeping feelings? So who cares about his feelings? Huff ... Mai took a breath, this is the fate of unrequited love.

Mai turned on her laptop, enough for exams, lectures, and Thomas. Now I want to refresh first. She opened the youtube application, looking for some of her favorite video clips or maybe a new video.

Her eyes saw something familiar. The Whale Gray youtube channel. She has been a subscriber to The Whale Gray for a long time since the channel was created but she hasn't looked at the contents in a long time. Because the content is just like that, most of the channels are silenced by their owners. Mai was stunned to see the contents now. Lots of content, containing the appearance of The Whale Gray during rehearsals or gigs. There is even a Question and Answer session.

Even more surprised to see how many subscribers to The Whale Gray now have and the people who like their videos.

The Whale Gray turned out to have many fans and Mai smiled to herself reading their comments, which mostly praised the physical appearance of the personnel in addition to their music playing. Yes, Mai admits that the personnel of The Whale Gray have a face that is more than decent, especially the vocalist. Most of The Whale Gray fans adore the vocalist who is a mulatto UK & Indonesia.

Talking about the lead vocal, The Whale Gray, reminds Mai of the man's strange behavior lately. Too friendly and caring. Aaron seems to be the type of person who easily gets along with anyone. Now the man instead offers to help heal her trauma, even allowing Mai to tell him anything. Isn't it weird?

Ivani is jealous of her. Yesterday after Aaron gave her ice cream, Ivani left it all day. Does Ivani think Aaron is interested in her? Seriously! - thought Mai.

Mai already has Thomas. No other man could replace Thomas in her heart even though that man was Aaron. After all, such an almost perfect man only caused trouble. A few days ago Mai and Ivani were intercepted by Luna and her gang just because they were escorted by Aaron home.

Fortunately, Ivani's fierce attitude managed to silence the annoying senior. Mai couldn't imagine that she had to face Luna and her friends alone. Even luckier, Luna's action was caught by Thomas and Riven. Who knows what Riven said to Luna because, since the unfortunate incident, Luna no longer dared to openly disturb Mai or Ivani. The haughty and nosy girl was mostly just sarcastic. No problem, Mai just needs to avoid Luna and be patient for the next three years.

-----

Two weeks after the Midterm Exam, Mai felt increasingly drunk with all these debit and credit affairs. Sometimes the logic doesn't even work when it comes to making adjusting entries. Sometimes can't find the difference when making bank reconciliation. Mai sighed behind the pile of thick books in the library room.

She's really in the wrong direction. It turns out that accounting is not as easy as she thought. Just doing this one task has not been completed since earlier.

Mai's English is pretty good, she always gets good grades for English, the highest grades than other subjects. Maybe she should just major in a language. But academic English is not as easy as everyday English, there are lots of terms. Mai buried her head on the table, tired.

"If you want to sleep, don't stay here, just go home." Someone scolds her.

Mai looked up, Riven was already in front of her. He also brought some books, from his behavior Riven also seemed to want to do the assignment. The man sat next to her, opening the books he was carrying one by one.

"I didn't sleep but I'm dizzy. Do you want to do your homework too?" Said Mai.

"Dizzy why?" Riven asked as he flipped through his book, not knowing what he was looking for.

"Assignment... I don't understand at all, it seems I entered the wrong major." Said Mai.

"Why did you choose accounting? The wishes of your parents?" Riven said.

Mai shook her head.

"Because I don't know what to choose," Mai said. Come to think of it, maybe at that time she just joined in, because Thomas was in accounting, because Ivani was also here. Have no stand.

"You are weird." Riven chuckled.

"Yea yea." Said Mai.

Riven laughed hearing Mai's answer until she thought Riven might think she was stupid.

"Why did you choose accounting?" Said Mai.

"Because I have to carry on my father's business," Riven said.

"So you don't want to?" Said Mai.

"No, no, I like a business too," Riven said.

Mai nodded, it's nice to know what you want in your life. The girl returned to struggling with her duties. Her brow furrowed trying to understand the questions that were posted there.

"Want me to help?" Riven's offer shifted Mai's focus. The girl was slightly surprised but then looked at Riven expectantly.

"Can?" Mai confirmed the offer.

"Okay, here let me see." Riven shifted closer to her and immediately took the book in front of Mai.

Moments later, they worked on a task together. Mai feels grateful to be friends with a senior this time.

Riven is a playboy who is famous for breaking the hearts of girls on campus, but turns out to be kind and turns out to be a gifted teacher. The explanation is given by Riven even entered Mai's brain more than the lecturer, maybe because with Riven, Mai could ask questions without hesitation.

"What are you two doing? You're close." Thomas's voice broke Mai's study concentration. Ivani was also with him.

"Doing the task, with the help of Riven," said Mai.

"Rarely do you want to help people study? At that time I asked you for help, you didn't want to," said Thomas.

"What time? Which one?" Riven played dumb while grinning.

Thomas snorted.

"Okay... If it's with a girl, don't refuse," he said sarcastically. Riven laughed.

"Are you done, Mai?" Ivani asked.

"A little bit more." Said Mai.

"Come along, there's something I don't understand either," Ivani said.

"Sure... Come here... I'll be happy to help," Riven answered immediately.

Thomas shook his head, not understanding Riven's sudden good attitude. Riven is an indifferent person, not the type to take things lightly.

If it doesn't have anything to do with him or doesn't benefit him, Riven usually doesn't want to get involved. That's why it's strange to see Riven who is now busy teaching his two female friends.

"Me too, when I was ignored," said Thomas.

"You're smart, Thom. You can't even do something like this." Riven said.

Thomas even though it was just small talk, his task had been completed long ago.

"I'll teach you later, Thom." Mai feels sorry.

"No need, it's over," said Thomas gently.

"Huh? You didn't say that earlier. May I see?" Ivani whined.

"Eh... Eh.. you can't. Do it yourself, brothers and sisters. Cheating is not good." Riven's way of saying those words made Thomas nauseous.

"Up to you, Riv... I'd better find a book, it's going to take a long time." Thomas couldn't take it anymore. Riven laughed.

"Watch out...! Don't tease my friend," said Thomas.

"Haha, I'm really scared. It's up to me, your friend is really cute." Riven said.

Ivani and Mai choked. This is how to ask a playboy for help. By the way, is this sincere or not?

"If I do anything I just have to tell Aaron," Thomas snapped.
