Chapter 15: New School Life Part 2
"It's good that you're sorry, but that doesn't make up for anything that you have done before, so turn around and leave Xiaxia alone." Quan Xinya was glad that Dai Na apologized, but she did not want her getting close to Shen Xia with such a fickle attitude.
"Xinya, it's fine." Shen Xia got the outcome she wanted, which was people questioning Shen Bai's legitimacy when she began spreading more rumors which she was bound to do. She figured Shen Bai's next action would be to try to drive a wedge between Quan Xinya and herself. Shen Xia also couldn't afford to make more enemies either. Each enemy she had was more of a risk of her getting exposed. So with this thought in mind, Shen Xia turned to Dai Na and said: "Thank you."
"Humph!" Dai Na was not mad at Shen Xia but Quan Xinya. She only snorted in response before turning around.
Mr. Huang was not only their form teacher, but he also taught math. When he walked into the room with a stack of papers, everyone groaned. "Good, it seems you know what these are. " Chuckling, he began to hand a stack to the people in the first row. "Take one and pass it back. This is a prep before your midterm exams. If you can do well on this, you should score high on the math section of the midterms."
Mr. Huang scanned the class and said: "You may begin!"
Shen Xiaxia looked at the questions and began writing. The questions were not all that hard since she had nothing better to do at home besides studying. So she was able to quickly finish the whole paper within thirty minutes. When she was done, she turned her paper over and laid her head down. Quan Xinya, who saw this wanted to cry. She had only done three of the problems, and Shen Xia was already done! Why was this evil person sitting next to her!?
Mr. Huang looked at his watch and announced the end of the test: "Time is up. Pass them forward and go to lunch."
"Xiaxia! You're a demon!" Quan Xinya whined.
"You didn't do well?" Shen Xia asked.
"You have no idea how bad I did. In the entire hour, I only got six of the ten problems completed! But you! You! Youuuu! How can you complete such a hard test in a half hour!? You make me feel like I should just quit life altogether and sit and home and read novels." Quan Xina pouted her lip as she grabbed and shook Shen Xia's arm.
"Do you not study at home? If you take an hour to review everything every day, you will learn everything you need to learn for the midterms." Shen Xia really did not know how to answer besides saying that studying helps.
"But… I have so many novels I need to catch up on. When I get home, I normally end up putting my bag down and telling myself I will just take a break, and the next thing I know, it is already time to sleep." Quan Xinya answered truthfully without much thought.
"Sounds to me that my Xinya has already quit life for her novels." Shen Xia teased as she pulled Quan Xinya along. "Come on, let's get lunch before it gets too crowded. If you come home with me today, I will help you study."
"Ahh! I knew XIaxia was the best!!" The two girls interlocked arms as they made their way towards the cafeteria.
"Shen Xia, stop right there!" That had just reached the door to the cafeteria when Shen Bai's voice echoed throughout the hall.
Shen Xia's good mood quickly faded as she slowly turned around to see Shen Bai marching up to her. Quan Xinya quickly stood in front of Shen Xia and glared at Shen Bai. "Shen Bai, what do you want? Did you not learn your lesson this morning?"
"Humph! My issue is not with you, Quan Xinya. It is to this bitch who talked behind my back!" Shen Bai had never been so angry before. Never has Shen Xia relegated against her, and now all of a sudden, after receiving some backing, she went and spread a rumor about her, saying she was not as great as she made herself out to be.
"And I care about what a cheap woman says? Shen Bai, let me remind you one more time that if you mess with Shen Xia anymore no matter what it is about, I will beat you up." Quan Xinya was not backing down in the slightest. She had only known Shen Xia since this morning, but she found that she really gets along well with her.
"Xinya, it's fine." Shen Xia decided to stop staying quiet. She was starting a new life and no longer wanted to hide in Shen Bai's shadow. Shen Xia looked at Shen Bai, her gaze not threatening in the slightest. She simply smiled and asked: "What rumor are you speaking about?"
"Do you not check the school forums? It is the top topic saying that I am an unwanted child of the Shen family! This is clearly done by you!" When Shen Bai saw the post, she couldn't help but be angered by it.
"Clearly me?" Shen Xia chuckled as she took out her old school flip phone. "This thing can't even connect to the internet, never mind type a message on the school forum. I would need an account to even log on to the school forums, to begin with. So how is it that I am the one that is slandering you? Where is your proof that it was me who wrote some post on the school forums? Shen Bai, can you prove that I was the one who wrote the post you are talking about?"
"I… Shen Xia, you better hope it wasn't you because if I find out it was, you will be sorry!" Shen Bai had no evidence it was clear as day that Shen Xia's phone wouldn't be able to write any posts. She was starting to suspect that Shen Xia was using that old phone just to make her look bad. As she walked away, she mumbled softly to herself. "This is not the end! Even if you didn't write it, I will make it so you have!"
