Sports Festival - 5
[ 3rd person's POV ]
Shoto and Izuku walked up to the stage. They looked at each other seriously. Izuku was nervous since he knew that Shoto was strong. Even stronger than Bakugou.
He wanted to become the number 1 hero after All Might but hearing Shoto's words about Ao, he was no longer sure. He wanted to deny Shoto's words but somewhere deep within him, he knew that Shoto didn't say his words to just praise his brother, no, he knew the look in Shoto's eyes. The admiration and the shackle he had because of his brother's shadow that was cast on him.
He knew this very well because he too had always felt it with Bakugou when he didn't have a quirk. Even now with All Might's help and quirk, he couldn't even show 5% of a quirk that All Might used at 100% when he was young.
He wanted to break his shackles and maybe just maybe help his classmate do so too.

The fight started soon after they reached the stage. Izuku fought with One For All at 100% breaking his bones but still in controlled manner, and Shoto fought equally hard. But something felt off to Izuku. He felt like his opponent wasn't using his quirk properly.
He had seen the footage of Ao using his quirk before in the first battle they had in All Might's class. After what Ao told him about gears and control, he watched it again and again to see what he previously didn't. This made him realize the monster Ao was as well as understand his quirk better than before.
He could tell that the shackle Shoto had was not limited to his mind but was also interfering with the use of his quirk.
He was… trying to copy Ao. His use of quirk was more forced and restrained than it looked.
Though technically the fire quirk of Shoto and the Phoenix Flames of Ao seemed to work in similar ways, it was different.
For Ao, flames were a part of him, like a hand to move but in case of Shoto, they were like a weapon. Still he was using it like an arm which limited its range and versatility like a weapon should.

[ Izuku's POV ]
Shoto-kun isn't using his quirk properly. I know this. I was also the same before. Trying to use it all at once and using it like a bomb instead of a hammer(His mental image).
"Shoto-kun. Your quirk can do more." At this point of fighting my hands are broken.But I have to tell him.
"Hphm, you talk like them too." Shoto-kun scoffed at me.
"Them?"
"My brother and father. They told me that I don't understand my quirk. I know it better than anyone." Shoto-kun said, frowning.
"But, it feels like Ao's sty--" Before I could finish, he threw a large amount of flames at me.
"Don't say it. Don't compare him with me. I know his quirk is more powerful than mine, I have known that my entire life." Shouto growled in anger. He fired his quirk at me in a rapid manner. What is he saying?
"No. Yours is equally powerful, Shoto-kun." I said in an attempt to make my point clear.
"I know it better than you do. Thank you Midoriya for trying to help me but I know my weakness." he said with a sad face. Like he had already given up on fighting.
No, that is not it. I felt pain in his words.
I have felt that before too. The despire to never overcome my weakness…
"HOW CAN YOU GIVE UP WHEN YOU HAVEN'T DONE YOUR ALL?" I shouted, I said what I felt with all my heart.
I felt lighter somehow. It was like I found my missing piece.

[ 3rd person's POV ]
For a second or so Shoto's mind blanked out. He always felt that shadow his brother cast over him. He knew that his brother was more powerful than him since they were children.
But it never made him feel small, not until that incident. Before he passed out from the pain he saw his brother's face, a face of absolute power.
He saw everyone pass out before him. Even just standing there he was able to make people kneel and faint. That was his true power.
He wanted to become like that too. He wanted to become powerful too. He did everything his brother did.
Even in pain he fought those gangs, with them or alone.
He followed his footsteps for so many years but when he looked up, he was so far ahead. Everytime he felt close to him, he would be in another league than him.
To be honest he had already given up but -- "HOW CAN YOU GIVE UP WHEN YOU HAVEN'T DONE YOUR ALL?".
Yes, how can I give up.
Ao never did. Even in those pain, even with all that pressure his back never bends, even when outnumbered he always stands, so why should I?
'WE are twins, what he can do I can do it too but why should I follow his steps and walk his path when I can make my own and run.'

At that moment Shoto just let go.
He looked at Izuku and said, "Thanks Midoriya."
With that the world turned red and blue.

The flames grew bigger and bigger with a large amount of ice under it.
It went to the point that it was out of Shoto's control. Izuku's quirk at 100% destroyed most of the ice but the flames were still strong.
Cementos's concrete got destroyed like glass and the explosion almost covered the entire stadium until a bright blue chilling flames surrounded the entire audience protecting them from the heat and fire.
It contained the fire within and also the four people in between.
After a minute the blue flames controlled the fire and it died down.
At the source of all those flames, Ao could be seen with his eye mask around his neck being held between his fingers. His right hand was stretched out towards the stage. Flames lingered around his body dancing.
Every hero and people who knew it was Ao's quirk, looked at him with wide eyes. They saw his blue eyes. Many were mesmerized by his face and eyes, while many looked at him with admiration or fear.
A huge smile was plastered on his face with shock visible in his clear blue eyes.
He felt something in Shoto's quirk.

[ Ao's POV ]
I was shocked to say the least. I thought Green-boy would use his brain to fight and corner Shoto to go all out but instead he sacrificed his arms to fight it out, though he lost.
It's not shocking that Shoto won but the fact that he used his flames and ice to this degree is... If not for me controlling the flames, things might have gone out of hands.
Above all, I felt something. It felt similar to my [Haki] but it wasn't. It also felt like dad's [Battle Mania] but still different.
It seems my brother is not the side character in my life after all. Oh I'm so proud and excited.
They took the passed out Shoto and Midoriya to the infirmary room. I should check on him when he wakes up. It's not like he's injured or anything, he just passed out after overusing his quirk.

The matches continued and my match with Pink girl was quite easy. I ran towards her by avoiding her acid for 1 minute to give her some chance but after realizing that nothing is gonna happen I knocked her out and carried her till the white bounds and gently placed her on the ground.
My next match should be with Ash-shit-kun.

After Ash-shit-kun won his fight he came to me and said, "I'll take that blindfold like your brother did, blind-yaro."
"You sure are rude towards disabled, aren't you. Are you going to ignore them when you become a hero?" I said seriously
"I-I didn't--" he didn't expect me to say that.
Ash-shit-kun's words got stuck in his throat.
"I'll give you a 1 minute head start. If in this 1 minute you can land a hit on me I'll accept defeat and fight you with my full flames"
"You're on." he said while blasting his quirk in his hands and walked away.
'I thought he would say 'Don't underestimate me' or something. Seems he knows our difference'

Shoto woke up sooner than I thought just before his next fight.
Shoto VS Iida
Shoto was never very good with speed. I only had to use my speed to win against him before but for short bursts like Iida-kun, it should be manageable.
[ After 3 minutes ]
Seems like I'm up.

Ao VS Bakugou
The cheering was very loud. Everyone seemed to be hyped up because of my earlier display.
"Let's make this the least exciting match and show off a little." I muttered to myself.
I stood before Ash-shit-kun. "You can still give up right now, you know. It's gonna be humiliating to lose while your opponent doesn't even use his quirk"
"Shut up. I'll make you use it and beat you down."
"Boy you can dream after you go home". He seemed more pissed than ever. The definition of 'Simple minded'.
Present Mic: "Start"
For 10 full minutes I didn't even use my flames. I simply went close to him and used my martial arts techniques to avoid his quirk while giving him a few jabs.
In his defense, I'm an ex-military special team captain, who was trained by two pro-heroes and a blind grandmaster so Ash-shit-kun was never going to beat me in this. Even Toya has hard times, much less this guy.
[ 1 minute later ]
I said, "1 minute up Ash-shit-kun. Now let's end this so you can go and dream all you want."
But before ending it, I asked something I always wanted to know about this guy since I met him, "Say, I never understood your pride of being superior because 'I have a superior quirk' belief you have. I mean you do have higher quality than others including your quirk but you don't have anything that says 'I'm at the top' or something. *sign* Anyways…"
While I was talking, I hit in his guts pretty hard so the match was already over. From the beginning till the end I didn't use my quirk at all.
Midnight: "Ba-bakugou, down. Winner, Todoroki Ao."
NPC A: "What just happened?"
NPC B: "Looks like he punched and knocked Bakugou out."
NPC C: "S-so fast. He didn't even use his quirk."
NPC D: "ye-yeah."
The match ended like that. In 1 minute and 5 seconds including a head start.
